Chinese Zodiac Animals Coloring Book: 36 Prints of Fun and Creativity for Kids by Xin Lin

January 8, 2024 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I just found the most adorable, easy to color coloring book. It is called, Chinese Zodiac Animals Coloring Book: 36 Prints of Fun and Creativity for Kids. But that should say for Kids and Kids at heart. The artist is Xin Lin.  And while the text might not be the most in depth and might be a loose translation of the characteristics of the signs, it is a fun way to introduce the subject. However, the beginning of the book is packed with a lot […]

Find it on the map, you can always get to it. Try to follow someone’s half-assed directions, and once you lose the trail, you’re sunk.

Zodiac by Neal Stephenson

May 29, 2019 by vel veeter Leave a Comment

Neal Stephenson loves boats, that’s for sure. In my least generous mood I would call this novel the dry-run (har har because it all takes place in water and on boats) a kind of dry-run for both Cryptonomicon and a lot of Snow Crash. That’s not to say it’s a whole lot like either one of those per se. But the boats here remind me a lot of the ways in which boats play into both of those novels, and the narrator here reminds me […]

A compelling, if largely implausible theory of the Zodiac Killer

May 19, 2018 by ingres77 Leave a Comment

In my last review, of Bind, Torture, Kill: The Inside Story of the Serial Killer Next Door, Mrs. Smith recommended that I check this book out. I picked it up the next day. So, thanks Mrs. Smith for the recommendation. First things first, I ended up enjoying this book quite a bit. Setting aside the conclusions he comes to, there’s a pretty good story here. Gary Stewart was abandoned as a baby, but was soon adopted by a great couple who raised him in a […]

Trailing a Killer

July 6, 2016 by jeverett15 Leave a Comment

For most of its length, Robert Graysmith’s account of the hunt for Northern California’s most famous serial killer is a rather dry recitation of facts, a play by play of discovered corpses and police investigations. But near the end it turns into something more interesting, as Graysmith starts to involve himself more personally in the investigation, fitting himself into the crevices between the various local, state, and federal investigators, serving as a go-between and discovering new leads on his own. Graysmith found himself in this […]

It was Arthur Leigh Allen. I Just Saved You Time.

April 7, 2015 by Quorren Leave a Comment

Graysmith wrote what is considered the definitive book on the Zodiac back in the 80’s.  It was so well researched and well done that when someone in a police department retired and another officer inherited the Zodiac case, that book was required reading.  This is not that book.  Due to libel, Graysmith wasn’t able to publish the circumstantial evidence that made Arthur Leigh Allen the best bet for the Zodiac.  So once Allen kicked it (yeah, I know I shouldn’t be so flippant, but Allen […]
