There are two kinds of people in this world. Those that read the catcher in the rye and scoff at the overrated “enlightenment” spewing forth on the pages and those that read it to dive into the memories and bravery in adolescence lost. I am of the latter category. I read the catcher in the rye to be comforted, to say, along with Holden, goodbye to everything that is my life. Just let them go, one by one and walk into the night.

Disappointed with Pullman
After very much enjoying several of Philip Pullman’s other books (His Dark Materials and companion books, The Firework Maker’s Daughter and The Scarecrow and His Servant), I had high hopes for the Sally Lockhart Mysteries. Love the book, but frustrated this series is so formulaic.
Okay, so firstly, if I would have read this book first in the series, my reaction would have been something like YEAHHHHHHHHHH. McKinley does it again
I’ve been a long-time fan of Robin McKinley, so I requested this new one through my Online Library and was excited when it became available days later.
