Not the final in the series, but my final read of Dune books

Children of Dune, Dune #3 by Frank Herbert

November 9, 2022 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

We’re not that far ahead in time after Dune Messiah. For a recap – at the end of Messiah Paul kinda just wandered away into the desert after Chani died in childbirth. It’s not a spoiler for Children of Dune, but totally for Messiah. If you’re reading this review, I really hope you’ve read Messiah, or just don’t care if you’re spoiled! Paul Muad’Dib’s kids Leto and Ghanima are under the care of their aunt Alia. She’s kinda crazy though. She is the same “type” […]

Sand and worms and spice oh my!

Dune (Dune #1) by Frank Herbert

March 30, 2022 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

My dad read this book a long time ago.  It was originally published in 1965, but he read it in 1983.  I’m sure he told me about it later (I was only 2 in 1983), because I remember him talking about it.  I also have vague memories of watching the original movie.  They aren’t good memories.  I guess they’re not necessarily bad, they’re just weird.  I remember the worms, and I remember a very large bad man.  I guess I also remember the blue eyes.  […]

Now that Sal knows the truth… J/K there is so much more to learn!

April 20, 2016 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This is book 2 of the Parasitology trilogy. Apparently it was supposed to be a duology, but Ms. Grant had a lot more to say! Symbiont is a bit different than Parasite (book 1) was. Sal knows who she is, but she’s still trying to figure a lot of details out. She knows she can trust her boyfriend & her dogs, & everybody else she’s (rightfully) wary about. There are a LOT LOT LOT of “sleepwalkers” in this book. I was trying to explain […]

My tapeworm tells me what to do

March 28, 2016 by kfishgirl 1 Comment

FYI – doing a search for “Parasite” on Amazon brings up some really weird choices:    and  Am I not properly cleansing myself of intestinal worms?  It freaked me out a little bit.  Anyway… the book: I really liked this book. I had read a sample of this book a while ago from Amazon. I was so interested, but since I read so many books, I’m kind of a cheap-o. Enter my library! I was so excited when I saw they had this book. I […]
