I don’t know why, but I do.  Jurassic Park (Michael Crichton) *** I’ve always loved the movie, so I wanted to read the book too. I was struck by how different it was both in plot and in tone; some characters that make it out in the film don’t survive the book and vice versa, and some of the characters have been conflated or split up. Lex and Tim, as characters, are incredibly irritating and flat in the book (Lex’ entire personality is ‘annoying child’. […]

For The Good of Mankind

Whiteout by Adriana Anders

February 6, 2021 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

Here’s how my brain works: I was still swooning over Giulio and Zahra’s Italian lessons in The Hitman and I suddenly flashed to Jerusha and Karl’s sex lessons in Daddy Crush, so obviously I had to reread that. I realized on rereading that I hadn’t given Adriana Anders enough credit for the joyful way Jerusha discovers her own body and sharing experiences with Karl. I also hadn’t realized that the forehead press could be as sexy as a doorway lean. I bend down, tangle my fingers […]

Baby, it’s cold out there

WHITEOUT by Adriana Anders

December 18, 2020 by katie71483 1 Comment

It wasn’t until after I’d finished the romantic thriller WHITEOUT by Adriana Anders that I realized that it was by the same author that wrote Daddy Crush, which emmalita reviewed earlier this year. Just like that book was better than most in its sub-genre, so to is Whiteout. Y’all. I’m never leaving the Deep South. Whiteout just cemented my fear of snow and ice, not to mention my deep and abiding dislike of extreme cold. I’m not going to get into a lot of detail, […]

LOOK at how beautiful this book by CL Polk is. I want this pattern in pjs and sheets and a phone case. It is just so pretty. Plus, it sounds amazing and I can’t wait to read it. I’ve had Whiteout on my TBR for a while and will crack it open to start off CBR13. The chocolate is delicious and I am hiding it from my kids. Thank you, Emmalita. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!!
