These girls are all my squishy muffins.

I didn’t quite love this second volume of Giant Days as much as I did the first one, but this is still an unbelievably fun series and I can’t wait for Vol. 3. Vol. 2 covers issues #5-9 of the series, from a winter ball through exams, dating crises, and what happens when you watch too many episodes of Friday Night Lights in a row. Crotchety Susan is for once the only one having reliable sexytimes, while Daisy is going through a questioning phase, and […]

This was a terrible book.

I mentioned in my review of the first volume of Grounded that I hadn’t read a Superman comic since at least 1997, so this series being my first in that span of time is in retrospect, a tragedy. This book is not good. It makes me question whether or not they even make Superman comics that are good. I have some ostensibly good ones on my TBR list, but as far as I have actual knowledge, Superman in comics is boring, pompous, overwritten, and stupid. […]

“When a book is read, an irrevocable thing happens–a murder, followed by an imposture. The story in the mind murders the story on the page, and takes its place.” “‘Every story has a negative space, Mister Rabbit. Things it can’t acknowledge. Truths it can imply or flirt with, but never say out loud.’ ‘Do I look like I give a flying fuck? Let me go!’ ‘One way of writing for children–her way–is to try to be a child yourself. And then, if you do that […]

Officially done with this travesty of an adaptation.

Guys, I’m begging you. Don’t even bother with this series, whether or not you’ve read the original trilogy. If you’re a fan, it’s just going to piss you off. And if you’re a noob, you’re just going to wonder why everyone is obsessed with this piece of crap story. Denise Mina absolutely ruins her adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy, and the worst part is, it seems to have been done on purpose. I read Vol. 1 of this series last year, which adapted the […]
