Veronica Mars: Mr. Kiss And Tell by Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham

June 27, 2019 by Jake 1 Comment

I don’t know how the revival series is going to go on Hulu but as far as this Veronica Mars fan is concerned, Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham could’ve kept pushing these books out and I would have been content. Much like the other one, this takes place immediately following the events of the movie and feels oh-so-much like an extended episode of Veronica Mars. There are fewer auxiliary characters than usual; this is mostly just Veronica and her dad, with Mac, Weevil and Logan on the […]

100% True to the Spirit of the Show

December 21, 2018 by Jake 1 Comment

While I wouldn’t say I’m a “Marshmallow” per se, I do like the Veronica Mars tv series. The first season is one of my all-time favorite seasons of a show. I didn’t enjoy number two as much for spoilery reasons but it wasn’t bad and the third season is better than it’s reputation. The movie is fun. I’m not one for high school melodramas but Rob Thomas and team get the noir/mystery aspects of the show down well and Kristen Bell is great as Veronica, the evolutionary […]

Remember when we used to be friends?

PATTY: Say it. Admit it. SAY IT. KATIE:  FINE. Fine. Kristen Ashley’s FOR YOU is actually fine, maybe even edging into decent/good. It’s the first book in her ‘Burg series, and if someone sent you this book to read with nothing identifying who wrote it, you’d probably think it’s an okay romantic suspense novel even if it is a little wordy. PATTY: February Owens and Alec Colton were once upon a time a dream couple. The *something* happened and February broke up with Colton and […]

Actress, knitter, author. Is there anything she can’t do?

February 1, 2018 by scootsa1000 8 Comments

I’m a big fan of Krysten Ritter. I love her as Jessica Jones. She was a fun addition to Veronica Mars. She killed it as the B in Apartment 23. And she broke my heart on Breaking Bad. And now, she’s written her first novel **, a mysterious thriller that proves she’s an author to look out for in the future. Bonfire tells the story of Abby, a tough environmental lawyer at a big Chicago firm, who is sent to the small (AND TERRIBLE) town […]

David Tennant makes everything better.

April 11, 2016 by scootsa1000 11 Comments

Here’s something strange: last week I picked up two books at the library without really knowing what they were about. I just knew I heard “about” them and figured they would be a good way to pass a cold, rainy April weekend. What’s weird is that were pretty much the same story…just that one was way, way better than the other. Spoiler/trigger warning Both of these books deal with the rape of a high school student and the repercussions that follow. First lets get the […]

Getting the Scoop with Lois Lane

June 12, 2015 by Jenny S 2 Comments

I never saw the Lois Lane/Veronica Mars connection until I read this book. Gwenda Bond spins an enjoyable story of a high school-aged Lois Lane, who moves to Metropolis hoping for a fresh start. As the daughter of a three-star General, Lois has lived the classic army brat life—moving from place to place and never quite fitting in or getting a chance to put down roots. It doesn’t help that she has a penchant for standing up for the little guy, tackling lost causes, and […]
