Happy Holidays!

December 15, 2022 by Mobius_Walker 3 Comments

Thank you very much to teresaelectro for this wonderful gift! For book exchange, I ask for my gifter’s favorite book of the year to expand my usual reading selection. I’m very excited to dig into these two in the new year as my first two reviews for CBR15. (Unpictured: my cat who tried to jump on to the top of the bookshelf while I was taking this pic, missed, and fell to the floor in embarrassment.)

Thoughtful Dark Romance

Crow (Boston Underworld Book 1) by A. Zavarelli

Reaper (Boston Underworld Book 2) by A. Zavarelli

August 25, 2021 by katie71483 Leave a Comment

Like so many of my reading choices lately, I began the Boston Underworld series by A. Zavarelli after seeing the first Book, Crow, recommended on SmutTok. So, please forgive me, but I’m going to start this review with a bit of a detour:  If y’all aren’t on TikTok and following those hashtags, I really recommend your at least considering giving it a try. I now follow a combination of romance authors, book sellers, and readers with similar interests. They often provide interesting insights about their […]

The Nickel Boys: A Novel by Colson Whitehead

Cbr12bingo Cannonballer Says, BINGO x2: vertical Red to Money, horizontal Cannonballer Says to Adaptation For the second year in a row, my Cannonballer Says square is filled with a book reviewed by TeresaElectro! Last year it was Rebecca Roanhorse’s excellent Trail of Lightning. This year it’s Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize winning The Nickel Boys. Four years ago I reviewed Whitehead’s The Underground Railroad, which was an amazing tour de force dealing with American history and American racism. The Nickel Boys is another clear-eyed, no-punches-held look […]

Thanks, teresaelectro!

December 10, 2019 by narfna 5 Comments

Came home yesterday after work to this happy surprise from teresaelectro. I was planning on reading both of these books in 2020, so now I have them ready to go! And I am *always* on the lookout for new bookmarks because there is a monster in my house that eats them. Thank you so much! This truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

Another Book Exchange, Another Wonderful Book

December 13, 2015 by ModernLove 1 Comment

Once more, Teresaelectro has gifted me with a wonderful book for the CBR book exchange!  And nailed it. A memoir? Check. A strong, kickass female voice? Check. A book that I’ve always seen and gone “huh, I should probably read that”? Check! I am super stoked to dig into this and I can’t thank you enough for this wonderful gift.
