Tryouts: (A Graphic Novel) (The Brinkley Yearbooks) by Sarah Sax

January 2, 2025 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I didn’t write up my review for Tryouts: (A Graphic Novel) (The Brinkley Yearbooks) by Sarah Sax until after things closed for the year. But that’s okay. I will just add it as my fourth book review of 2025 as I had a few books at the end of 2024 I missed, but will let you know about them now January 2025. And the rest of the books afterwards should be 2025 all the way. Tryouts is a typical story of girl power, sports, teamwork […]

One Cool Duck V02 The Far-out Fort by Mike Petrik

August 29, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

It is the Reviews of the Series. Or this is a review about different series. Each one has its own quirks (good and bad) but all have that little something that fits the right reader. Maybe one is for you! The first book is more for ages 10 to younger 13, but adults might appreciate it as well. However, if you go younger, just know your reader as some illustrations and concepts are not for sensitive readers. And the second book is for about kindergarten […]

R.B.I. Robots (Fuzzy Baseball, #3) by John Steven Gurney

July 18, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

cbr14bingo,  Funky Funky meanings: having an earthy, blues-based quality or character. having an offensive smell; evil smelling; foul. adjective funkier or funkiest informal (of music) passionate, soulful; of or pertaining to funk authentic; earthy stylish and exciting; cool, funky jeans overcome with great fear; terrified. John Steven Gurney (whom I missed when he came to my store due to a headache I was fighting) has a great baseball series called Fuzzy Baseball. I have read them out of order, which mostly is okay, but I […]

The Mythics #4: Global Chaos by Patrick Sobral and Patricia Lyfoung

January 6, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

The Mythics #4: Global Chaos is obviously the fourth graphic novel in the series by Patrick Sobral and Patricia Lyfoung. One should read them in order, but thankfully there is a recap at the start that not only introduces you to the characters, but it also gives a recap of what has previously occurred. The aged (strong) 8 to 13-or-14-year-old might not be able to jump into the middle like this, but I was able to piece together enough to get the idea of things. […]

Game Day!: Patty Hits the Court. by Patty Mills

March 25, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Sometimes finding a book is more interesting than the book itself. When I found Patty Mills book, I was looking to see if we had a book in stock even though our system said we didn’t. This was due to a royal mess up from the publisher, but of course, I could not be that lucky. However, instead, I found two books that I wanted to read. One was a graphic novel (Agent 9: Flood-A-Geddon!) and this book: Game Day!: Patty Hits the Court. I […]

Fuzzy Baseball V04 Di-No Hitter by John Steven Gurney

March 25, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I loved the first book in the series Fuzzy Baseball by John Steven Gurney (illustrator of the A to Z Mysteries). And while I liked the second (Ninja Baseball Blast) as well, it was more of the same (the local baseball team plays baseball and learns lessons in sportsmanship, being good people and the game). I did not realize there was a third (R.B.I. Robots) out last spring, and I just received an e-book galley of number four, Di-No Hitter (due in mid-June 2021). This […]
