This review was originally published at Women Write About Comics. Jude Coyne is an aging rock star who collects macabre trophies. When his assistant Danny finds a haunted suit for sale online, Jude purchases it without a second thought, hardly even remembering he bought it when it finally arrives in a large, black, heart-shaped box. We soon learn that the suit is haunted by Craddock McDermott, a dowser and hypnotist by trade. It quickly becomes clear that he intends to kill Jude and anyone […]
If she wasn’t such a prolific writer, this book would suggest that Nora Roberts had a second career as an interior decorator
3.5 stars for the story, 0.5 stars for the excellent narration Shelby Foxworth is only 24 when her husband dies in a boating accident, leaving her a widow with a three-year-old daughter. Late to the Party; Still had…Fun?
“I tested the brackets by hitting them with rocks. This kind of sophistication is what we interplanetary scientists are known for.” So, here’s the thing. I know I’m late to the party (and I haven’t seen the movie yet, either), but sometimes I just get so damn stubborn about the things everybody wants me to check out I won’t try ’em even when I know I’ll like ’em.
No vampires, obsessive fans, evil clowns, psychic teens or weary gunslingers in this one. There is a ghost, though.
21-year-old college student Devin Jones gets a summer job at old-fashioned carnival and amusement park Joyland, trying to mend his broken heart, after his girlfriend left him for another. All Aboard the Noah!…and then Someone Dies
Holy babjeebus of holy smokes this book was wild. Intense, mysterious, sci-fi-y and inventive. Welcome to the sci-fi murder-mystery. We dive right in as Hana Dempsey is getting released from breeding duty. She lives on a ship, the Noah, that’s on its way from Earth to a new planet thousands of years away. Breeding duty is exactly what it sounds like; it involves sleeping for 9-ish months while you gestate and birth a child, then get administered a bunch of drugs and back to work. […]
Cool Contemporary Romance Title, Unsettling Content
So, that’s a super cool title. I received this contemporary romance as a gift, not for an “honest review” as one so often hears, but because Katie71483 is lovely and knew I was looking for a good LGBT romance. The Sinner’s Gin of the title is a blues-rock band that experiences a horrible tragedy the same night they win a handful of Grammys. Glorying in their success, their limo is t-boned by a large truck and three of the four band members are killed. The […]
