Really made me crave some butter chicken

Tikka Chance on Me by Suleikha Snyder

January 4, 2020 by Malin 4 Comments

4.5 stars This novella was exactly what I needed in the stressful weeks starting the new year, when I’m massively behind on my work (thanks, ill-timed Christmas illness), still fighting a horrible cough and cold (at this stage, I’m not entirely sure I’m not suffering from a new cold that I caught on the heels of the first one). I have so many mediocre English essays left to grade, with the deadline of the 12th of January (when all the grades for term 1 have […]

Short Bites of Hope

Prem Numbers: A Short Story Collection by Suleikha Snyder

January 1, 2020 by Emmalita 7 Comments

I had a conversation over the holidays about the romance genre. I was talking to a friend who thinks fiction lacks truth, so obviously she is wrong. I am quite open about what I read, but she was still surprised that I, a woman of good sense, read a lot of romance. How do you explain to someone who dismisses all fiction as “fantasies” the powerful truths conveyed in fiction? Reader, I could not. We left that conversation each convinced of our own position. The […]

I Tikka a Chance

Tikka Chance on Me by Suleikha Snyder

January 9, 2019 by CaribbeanClaire 1 Comment

This is a cute little novella from a new to me author.  At 72 pages, it can be read pretty much in one sitting.    Our heroine with the unlikely name of Pinky Grover (she admits her name makes her sound like a Muppet) has had to give up her dreams of studying for her Masters in Anthropology and come back to small town Indiana to work in her parents Indian restaurant whilst her mother recovers from cancer.  The book opens with her mother returned […]

He looked like heroism and hedonism’s beautiful bastard.

Tikka Chance on Me by Suleikha Snyder

I was scrolling through Twitter one day last week and happened on an author (@mel_thegreat) live tweeting her read of a romance novella by Suleikha Snyder (@suleikhasnyder), another romance writer I follow. I follow a lot of authors on twitter, and a large subset of those authors write romance. They are delightful. But back to the thread. I had seen the book advertised on Amazon for $.99, but hadn’t been motivated enough to buy it. Mel’s enthusiasm for the book and the bits of language she tweeted convinced me to go get it.
