Damnit, Janet

Now or Never: 31 on the Run by Janet Evanovich

January 1, 2025 by Lynn 26 Comments

Every year I start out strong and think, maybe this will be my year. I also am that girl who buys a new calendar every January, uses it until the 11th, and then gives up cause Google calendar is easier. But this year I’m NOT buying a calendar, so…. maybe that’s a good sign? (I mean, it’s only January 1st. I haven’t been to Target yet.) Anyway. Spoilers ahead. Lots. This is the 31st installment of these books, and yes, I have read every single one […]

Ranger 4 Lyfe

Dirty Thirty by Janet Evanovich

July 12, 2024 by Lynn 23 Comments

I’ve written before about the hold Janet Evanovich has on me, and my undying devotion to Ranger, so my second (woohoo, I’m on number 2!) review this year is the latest installment in the Stephanie Plum series, Dirty Thirty. BEWARE SPOILERS! The plot is classic Stephanie. Wacky crime, wacky hijinks, something blows up, Lula buys a bunch of food, etc. Seriously, I’ve never been to Trenton, but I’m not sure Janet’s doing their tourism board a whole lot of good. Big Blue doesn’t make an […]

Janet has lost her mojo

Game On: Tempting Twenty-Eight by Janet Evanovich

January 18, 2022 by Lynn 3 Comments

Oh dear. Where do I start? Well, let’s start here: THERE IS NO SEX. Also, more importantly, Ranger is in this story 0.0001%. Morelli is in this story 0.0005%. You know who’s around? Diesel. And freaking Wuulf. And Diesel, even though he’s like, number three in my book of Who Stephanie Should Have Sexy Times With doesn’t even have that much to do. And Wuulf doesn’t even have any real dialogue. Here’s there for like, two pages. This was…not good. I’ve lamented Janet’s half-hearted efforts […]

I’m a bit surprised Rex is still alive. What’s the lifespan on a hamster?

Fortune and Glory (Tantalizing Twenty-Seven) by Janet Evanovitch

January 18, 2021 by Lynn 4 Comments

(I’m back. I failed miserably at CBR12. My last review was about a week before, you know, The Great Quarantine. At first I thought it would be great, that I would have all kinds of spare time to read and write reviews and that would be the year that I really crushed it. Except no, cause that’s not how life works when you have four teenagers and a puppy in your house. All the time. And they never leave. And you can never leave. And […]

“Amateur-Hour Version of The Best of ‘Cops’ Bloopers”

Hot Six by Janet Evanovich

June 9, 2019 by Tracy Leave a Comment

Hot Six picks up right were High Five left off – Stephanie has just called over either Morelli or Ranger and we find out which one it is. The timeline then jumps forward 5 months, by which time she and Morelli are apparently dating. The title of this post comes from a line in the book in which Stephanie recognizes that she and Lula do not exactly make the most experienced team. After the time jump, we find out that Ranger was arrested for carrying concealed […]

Things Are Heating up with Ranger

High Five by Janet Evanovich

May 26, 2019 by Tracy Leave a Comment

I really enjoyed this one. Stephanie isn’t after a major FTA (failure to appear) this time, which leads to some nice interactions with Ranger and the introduction of some of the men Ranger employs. Lately there haven’t been many FTAs and Stephanie is low on funds and overdue for rent, so she asks Ranger to let her know of any job opportunities, and he has her help out (I use the word “help” loosely as she tends to bumble things) with a few jobs for […]
