Once upon a time, Roller Derby met Wrestling. They fell in love and made Extreme Pillow Fighting

Pillow Talk: A Graphic Novel by Stephanie Cooke

May 7, 2025 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Pillow Talk: A Graphic Novel by Stephanie Cooke and illustrator Mel Valentine Vargas is almost a perfect 5, but there were a few small things that I would have liked to have seen. With that said, this is a fun book about body image, taking back sexuality and standing up for yourself. If wrestling and roller derby got together and added pillows (and minus the roller skates) you have Pillow Talk. It is a clever way of taking a familiar story that could have just […]

Animal Rescue Friends gang and their furry, feathered, and flying friends

Animal Rescue Friends: Learning New Tricks: Volume 3 by Harriet Low

August 4, 2023 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I have not read Animal Rescue Friends volumes one and two, as I happened to find Animal Rescue Friends: Learning New Tricks: Volume 3 as an online reader and thought it sounded interesting without doing further research. This is a clever book and feels as if Babysitters Club’s Little Sister Karen […]

OMGs!

Oh My Gods! Volume 1 by Stephanie Cooke and Insha Fitzpatrick

November 18, 2021 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Did you think Percy Jackson was a bit stiff? No sense of humor? Too focused on Greek Gods and Goddesses as old fuddy duddies? Then you need Oh My Gods! Volume 1. Stephanie Cooke and Insha Fitzpatrick created a graphic novel that has a little fun while, actually giving you a little about the Greek Gods and Goddesses of mythology. Only, this time they are real, and most are going to school on Mt. Olympus. When Karen’s mother has an opportunity to have her dream […]
