This is all Malin’s fault.

April 5, 2015 by narfna 12 Comments

If you’ll recall from my previous review of Tessa Dare’s A Week to Be Wicked, I mentioned that I would probably be going on a Tessa Dare binge pretty quickly. This is the beginning of that. This one came in from the library yesterday, and I bought two others at Bookmans three hours ago. So this is happening. Dammit. I didn’t like this one as much as A Week to Be Wicked, which is the second book in the Spindle Cove series. A Night to […]

A CBR book exchange book finds its mark.

March 24, 2015 by narfna 22 Comments

First off, Malin gave me this book as part of the 2014 CBR book exchange. This is the first of the multiple books I received in that book exchange, and the one the year before, that I’ve actually gotten to (although, I have at least three more planned to read for later this year–thanks, Malin!). For the past couple of years, my romance reading has pretty much been “Courtney Milan,” also thanks to Malin (and Mrs. Julien), but after reading A Week to be Wicked, […]

The puppy was cute

February 22, 2015 by Sophia 6 Comments

I enjoyed my first Tessa Dare novel, A Week to be Wicked, so I figured I’d give Dare’s next novel in the series a try: A Lady by Midnight (2012). I’d already been introduced to the main characters in the previous novel. Kate Taylor is an orphan of unknown origins, raised in a strict school for ladies. Having been educated in the art of music at school, Kate earns a respectable living teaching music to students at Spindle Cove. Corporal Thorne has had more than […]

Another Historical Romance, But Really a Romp

February 18, 2014 by Mrs. Julien Leave a Comment

Road trip! I first read A Week to Be Wicked about two years ago when I started devouring every historical romance I could get my hands on. It is a wonderful romp and an entertaining read. It hits on all of Tessa Dare’s best aspects as a writer: Smolder. Really, really, good smolder. Lisa Kleypas level smolder. Funny of the laugh out loud variety. Witty, too. Sincere emotion successfully balanced against the aforementioned humour. At least one hysterical turn of phrase describing a man’s specific […]
