Nerd Love Can Still Be Spicy

Glitch by Briana Michaels

April 20, 2023 by RevGirlUtena Leave a Comment

This book was recommended on BookTok and it did NOT disappoint. Red-hot smut from almost the very beginning. The first review of Glitch on GoodReads starts with “I think my Kindle got pregnant”, so that should give you an idea of how spicy this series is. Glitch is a love story between two computer nerds, Glitch and Ara. Glitch is the nickname given to him by his older sister because when he gets overwhelmed, he seems to “glitch out” and freeze up. Ara is short […]

Worst Book I Have Read So Far This Year

The Good Side of Wrong by Jenika Snow

March 19, 2023 by RevGirlUtena Leave a Comment

Persephone is 18 and a senior in High School when her parents are killed in a car crash. Even though she is legally an adult, she is placed in the custody of her Uncle Hades. Hades was adopted into the family as a young child, so he could be abused by his Father and Brother in order to toughen up his Brother so he could run the family business. Hades’s original plot is to destroy Persephone so he can get posthumous revenge on his brother, […]

Maybe Tentacle Porn isn’t all that bad…

An Inheritance of Monsters by Cate Corvin

February 5, 2023 by RevGirlUtena Leave a Comment

2022 was the year I really got into romance novels. I started with The Love Hypothesis, and quickly moved on to smuttier and smuttier books. After binge-reading about half of the Ice Planet Barbarians series, I started reading monster smut and I have never looked back! An Inheritance of Monsters tells the story of Juno, a paranormal investigator with a successful YouTube channel. Unlike most of her male counterparts, she can actually see ghosts. However, until she visits Duskwood Manor, she has never seen monsters. […]

And the people bowed and prayed

Neon Gods by Katee Robert

Electric Idol by Katee Robert

February 22, 2022 by Dinah Lord 4 Comments

Katee Robert was a name unknown to me until I read nart’s review of Neon Gods, and her review (and those of other Cannonballers) made me intrigued by the premise – modern-day retellings of Greek myths where the gods of Olympus are actually mortal rulers of the city of Olympus, in an unknown country only loosely connected to our real world. It’s an interesting setting, and allows Robert to make up her own rules about how things work and why. As other reviewers have pointed […]

The perfect poolside summer smut.

July 5, 2015 by tillie 4 Comments

Apparently “mom porn” is a totally legit “literary” genre now, and the lemon grove is a perfect example of the tedious tawdriness that is the genre. It iswell-written, but not quite enjoyable. It is sexy but not overtly so. The story is based in a serious family drama, but it never feels quite explored. Not quite sexy, not quite serious. I liked it and disliked it, the words of both love and hate being too strong. The plot is simple. Jenn is on holiday in […]
