Kathryn Moon’s Sweetverse

Baby and the Late Night Howlers by Kathryn Moon

Lola and the Millionaires parts I & II by Kathryn Moon

Bad Alpha by Kathryn Moon

Faith and the Dead End Devils by Kathryn Moon

January 27, 2023 by Owlizabeth 11 Comments

I’m excited about writing this because none of y’all know me! These are the books I comfort reread with a disturbing regularity, and they are the sweetest, filthiest Why Choose/ABO romances out there. I just finished a buddy read with some romancelandia friends and I gotta share em with y’all as well. (Because I know none of you are my mother) First – what is Why Choose and what is ABO? Why Choose is the new term for Reverse Harem, which in romance books involves […]

A solid expansion and exploration in The Stillness

The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin

December 30, 2022 by Mobius_Walker 1 Comment

Jemisin continues to play with POV and split narration in The Obelisk Gate. In this novel which picks up immediately after the events of The Fifth Season, we primarily focus on Essun at Castrima and her daughter Nassun who is travelling with her father. Essun is still at Castrima while Nassun makes her way to a sanctuary for young orogenes led by Schaffa, the Guardian. There is a deeper exploration of magic in The Obelisk Gate which was very fun. What I find to be especially wonderful […]

A talking cat + groomer mystery duo

Mimi Lee Gets a Clue by Jennifer J. Chow

December 28, 2022 by teresaelectro 1 Comment

Mimi Lee Gets a Clue by Jennifer J. Chow is the first book in her Sassy Cat Mystery series. As a big fan of cozy mysteries and cute animals, the adorable illustrated cover sold me instantly. Mimi opens a grooming shop called Hollywoof. She hopes to cater to the dog clientele of Los Angeles. Even though it’s clear that Mimi prefers dogs, her sister gives her a fluffy white cat. He is aptly named Marshmallow. Quite soon, Mimi starts hearing Marshmallow talk. She thinks she […]

Why Have I Waited So Long to Read This?

Sandman: Preludes and Nocturnes Volume I by Neil Gaiman

December 6, 2022 by Ale 1 Comment

Since the show came out on Netflix, about six different people have asked me if I’m watching “Sandman,” since they know I’m a huge Gaiman fanatic. But I have not. Mostly because I don’t have Netflix, but also because I’ve never read the source material, and I’m a stickler for reading the book before seeing the media. So I finally started Sandman. Why did I wait so long???? My guess, personally, is being a little afraid of the Graphic Novel. It’s an irrational fear, and when […]

A servicable sophomore entry in the series

The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

November 12, 2022 by Mobius_Walker Leave a Comment

BINGO – Series The second installation in The Inheritance Games Series is The Hawthorne Legacy. This book picks up almost immediately after the events of the first book which makes sense. Avery has to live in her newly inherited house for a full year with minimal interruption in order to secure the inheritance she was given by a stranger just a few weeks prior. The games of the first book have served their purpose: the grandsons of the Hawthorne family have aired their grievances and secrets […]
