New to me sci fi romance where we jump across galaxies

Grimspace by Ann Aguirre

December 31, 2019 by teresaelectro 2 Comments

I can get stuck in a paranormal romance rut, but I also love me some romance in space. Even better if there’s a twist on the enemies to lovers trope. Grimspace is the first Sirantha Jax novel from Ann Aguirre. This sci-fi romance is written from the main character’s point of view. In this part of the universe, space travel requires a pilot and a special navigator like Sirantha to fly through the wormhole-esque grimspace. Ships can jump through the galaxies with these jumpers possessing […]

“You should have fallen in love with a happy man, if you wanted happiness. But no, you had to fall for the breathtaking beauty of pain.”

The Vorkosigan Saga is one of those classic SF series that has been a little intimidating to me because there are so many books in the series, and the suggested reading order of the series is not the publication order, so it doesn’t naturally lend itself toward easily identifying the “next” book in the series. Cordelia’s Honor is actually an omnibus edition comprised of Shards of Honor (Vorkosigan #1) and Barrayar (Vorkosigan #7)(???) Here’s a short plot description from Goodreads for both of those: Shards […]

“Kate Daniels in Space”

June 28, 2017 by alwaysanswerb 8 Comments

Hoo-RAH! The Paradox series is so, so fun and so good. It’s basically Kate Daniels In Space, and as a huge Ilona Andrews/Kate Daniels fan and sci-fi/space opera fan, these books were like catnip. They center around a merc-for-hire named Devi Morris, who is the most competent, take no shit, battle trained soldier around. She’s a native Paradoxian, which makes her human but distinct from other humans called Terrans who are more closely connected in lineage to the original Earth. Paradoxians and those in Paradoxian […]

Alien invasion love

December 23, 2014 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

Collision is part one of a new alien invasion trilogy from Berinn Rae. Sienna, an ex- military brat and recent widow stumbles upon a crashed ship near her remote home. Against her better judgement, she goes inside to investigate. She discovers a super hot human-like man (except for his unnatural golden skin) unconscious on floor. Another weird guy passed out who may be dead. She drags the golden man outside just before a crazy winged alien attacks. The two creatures point weird guns at each other with […]
