Hockey and love

Shenanigans by Sarina Bowen

March 31, 2022 by Sophia Leave a Comment

At this point I’ve read quite a number of books by Sarina Bowen, so it wasn’t hard to pick up Shenanigans (2022) as soon as it became available. Bowen has written romance novels on many different topics, but her hockey books are my favorite. Many of Bowen’s hockey books center around the fictional NHL team, the Brooklyn Bruisers, and Shenanigans is no different. In fact, the male protagonist, Neil Drake, is a player on the team. He also comes from a super rich family that makes swanky private jets […]

A little more hockey romance

Sure Shot by Sarina Bowen

December 10, 2021 by Sophia 1 Comment

I’ve read a lot of hockey romances by Sarina Bowen, and this will probably not be my last one. Sure Shot (2020) takes place with the relatively new NHL franchise, the Brooklyn Bruisers, which happens to be the setting of most of Bowen’s recent hockey romance novels. In fact, at this point there are so many rich, beautiful, and happily married players in Brooklyn that it feels like an idyllic, paradise land. Bess Beringer is a successful sports agent, making it to the top through talent, hard work, and […]

Hockey love!

Superfan by Sarina Bowen

December 18, 2019 by Sophia 1 Comment

My attraction to hockey players began in high school when my dad somehow obtained front row seats for my very first NHL game. After being dragged to my brothers’ hockey games throughout my childhood, I was not prepared for the speed and intensity of the professionals. Their power and skill were intoxicating, and my little teenage heart immediately fell for Peter Forsberg, the blue-eyed, Swedish star of the team. I’d like to think I’ve matured since then, and I have in many ways, but I […]

It’s not about the dog

Good Boy by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy

December 8, 2019 by Sophia 1 Comment

Good Boy (2017) by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy is an example of a book where the title and cover have very little, if anything, to do with the actual story. There is mention of a dog and one puppy, but it is definitely not the center of the story. I’m a fan of Sarina Bowen, and I’ve mostly enjoyed her romance novels involving professional hockey players. Even though there were a couple plot points that had me shaking my head, this was another fun, entertaining, […]

Time to move Sarina Bowen back on hiatus

Pipe Dreams by Sarina Bowen

February 5, 2019 by Malin 2 Comments

Lauren Williams used to love hockey, but after Brooklyn Bruisers goalie Mike Beacon suddenly dumped her without warning, she stays far away from the game, and is very grateful that her boss, Nate Kattenberger, has her running his office in Manhattan, so she can focus on moving on and building a life for herself on her own. She’s about to graduate from college, with a lot of bright career prospects in her future and she’s planning on having a baby, by herself. She’s none too […]

My first review of the year!

Brooklynaire by Sarina Bowen

January 22, 2019 by Malin 7 Comments

3.5 stars Rebecca “Becca” Rowley has worked for tech billionaire Nate Kattenberger for more than seven years. She managed his office while he and a few friends were still an optimistic start up. For the last few years, she’s gone from being his personal assistant to managing the hockey team he bought, the Brooklyn Bruisers. Foolishly walking onto the ice to personally deliver a message, Rebecca falls and gets a concussion. Several weeks later, she’s still not well and fretting terribly about her inability to […]
