You Are Not Alone: Let the women do the work!

You Are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

June 25, 2021 by msvreadsbooks 1 Comment

This one was interesting! Like many novels of this type, the chapters alternate between different perspectives, letting the reader in on the underlying plot.  Shay Miller witnesses an apparent suicide in the subway in New York one day. She’s lost her job and is generally feeling lost, and one day she sees a woman jump in front of a train. She doesn’t know why. She doesn’t know anything about the woman, but there is something familiar about her…  This leads Shay to spend her days […]

The Wife Between Us

The Wife Between Us  by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

June 11, 2021 by Caitlin_D Leave a Comment

Continuing my theme of “I read this in February and only have vague recollections of it” in: The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen 3.5 Stars rounded up to 4 The Wife Between Us is another book with alternating POVs of Vanessa, an unreliable narrator due to a drinking problem, who has recently gotten out of an abusive marriage with a man named Richard and Nellie- a young woman who is about to marry Richard. “In my marriage, there were three truths, three alternate […]

CBR11Bingo: Summer Read

An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen

July 30, 2019 by badkittyuno Leave a Comment

An Anonymous Girl is ridiculous — it’s silly and trashy and I doubt I’ll remember a bit of it six months from now, but it was definitely entertaining and I blew through it so I’m counting this as my “summer read!”. “We all have reasons for our actions. Even if we hide the reason from those who think they know us best. Even if the reasons are so deeply buried we can’t recognize them ourselves.” Okay, let me see if I can wrangle this one […]

I Can’t Think of a Good Title….Hot Mess???

An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks

May 24, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Trigger warning: Suicide.   Wow. So I had inklings this one wasn’t going to go well with the pop up questions and people waiting on me to finish this on Goodreads. BTW, thanks for not giving a heads up on how bad this was going to be people! I was looking for a slow burn psychological thriller and this turned into nothing that made coherent sense with the women going to increasingly lengths for men or over secrets that would have people going who cares. “An […]

A Well Told Familiar Plot

January 26, 2018 by luelladeeville Leave a Comment

I went into this almost completely blind, and it was all the better for it. The comparisons to other, more famous, entries in the women’s suspense genre that has been all the rage over the last couple of years (Gone Girl, Girl on the Train, Big Little Lies, etc.) were reason enough for me to pick it up. I love a good thriller, especially one that keeps me guessing. And this certainly delivered. The plot itself is straightforward and instantly recognizable to any fans of […]
