Jolene doesn’t have red hair, okay?

The Home-wrecker by Sara Cate

April 15, 2024 by katie71483 Leave a Comment

Sara Cate continues to be one of my favorite romance authors. Her new novel, The Home-wrecker, is the second installment in a series about the Goode family, a family recovering from the toxic Christianity of its fallen-from-grace patriarch who happens to have been a megachurch pastor before being brought up on attempted murder charges. Wow, that sentence is a mouthful, especially since he’s a secondary character.  Caleb is a successful defense attorney who is married to Briar, his college sweetheart. Like many couples, they are […]

Same Time Next Year by Tessa Bailey

Here are some 2023 reviews that I didn’t manage to get out before the deadline: Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver Sloane is just your average, everyday woman who just so happens to enjoy murdering serial killers and posing them in grisly tableaus as a hobby. Who can’t relate? One day, she is accidentally trapped by a killer she has just murdered and is worried she is going to starve to death when she is saved by Rowan, an everyday man who also just so […]

A Smattering of Smut, Part 3 – The Smuttening

Mr. Taboo Daddy by Aria R. Blue

Double Pucked by Lauren Blakely

The Tease by Lauren Blakely

Madame by Sara Cate

Heartless by Elsie Silver

Priest by Sierra Simone

These books were either too short to justify a full review, or there was just smut and no plot. In some cases, both! Mr. Taboo Daddy by Aria R. Blue Look, sometimes I just read a book because it has a stupid title. I also needed some smut after reading some YA romances. Sometimes you want to read about people just fucking for 90 pages, OK! Anyway, this book was about Layla, who at 18 tries to seduce her next-door neighbor. He also happens to […]

A Smattering of Smut

11 Hours by Octavia Jensen

11 Scenes by Octavia Jensen

11 Dates by Octavia Jensen

Whiskey & Sin by Emily Rath

Never Been Kissed by Timothy Janovsky

Beautiful Sinner by Sara Cate

November 6, 2023 by RevGirlUtena Leave a Comment

I’ve read a bunch of books since May that were more smut than plot, so here’s a series of mini-reviews in the order I read them: 11 Hours by Octavia Jensen Briella is a paralegal in a fancy-schmancy law firm. She has an absolute hate/hate relationship with Harrison, one of the firm’s attorneys. One day, while everyone else is at the holiday party, they are working late and get stuck in an elevator together. For ELEVEN HOURS. Which is cuckoo-bananas. What kind of building doesn’t […]

Sara Cate can do no wrong for me

The Anti-Hero by Sara Cate

October 4, 2023 by RevGirlUtena Leave a Comment

Adam Goode is the eldest son of the most prominent preacher in Austin. Think Joel Osteen’s level of mega-church. Adam writes sermons for his father and is seen by everyone as his future successor. All of this blows up in his face, however, when he finds out his father is a member and part owner of a local sex club. Adam then decides to stop trying to be the “good boy” everyone sees him as, and starts filming sex tapes with a tattoed, pink-haired girl […]

Love Triumphant and a bit with a dog

The Anti-Hero by Sara Cate

July 17, 2023 by katie71483 2 Comments

Okay, so, some of you may remember that I reviewed Purity by Skyler Mason several months ago and that I was… not impressed. Purity was supposed to be spicy romance about someone who was recovering from growing up in purity culture. It wasn’t particularly romantic or sexy or spicy or even a good deconstruction* (see definition below) journey.    Today, I stumbled upon The Anti-Hero by Sara Cate. It is everything that Purity’s author wanted that book to be, but on steroids. It is filled […]
