A kissing book & some young adult fiction

May 25, 2017 by badkittyuno Leave a Comment

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne 3 stars I don’t normally read romances, with the exception of my beloved Outlanders, but y’all recommended Kulti and I really liked that, so I thought I’d give this other highly rated one a shot. I didn’t love it, but it was cute. I listened to the audio version, and hearing the name “Joshua Templeton” repeated over and over varied from obnoxious to over the top hysterical, depending on my mood. I liked Lucy, but I have trouble getting behind the whole “I’ve loved you all along which […]

Thank You Cannonballers!

March 14, 2017 by Debcapsfan 4 Comments

Rated 5 heart eyes I asked for recommendations on the Cannonball Read Facebook page for a romance with humor, good chemistry between the main characters, and a good plot. The Hating Game was described as “hilarious and quirky and perfect.” I read it and loved it so much. Definitely a book where I was staying up later than I should be reading because I wanted more. Lucy and Joshua are both assistants to the CEOs of two publishing companies that merged together. Lucy is sweet […]

Lucy grows a backbone

February 24, 2017 by SandyLemons 5 Comments

Lucy Hutton is oblivious. Let me just start with that. It is abundantly clear within the first chapter, so I don’t think that this is a spoiler, unless you are also oblivious… Basically, this is the story of two office mates with a lot of pent-up sexual frustration. I do not like romances or chic flicks, but I listened to this book on the advice of BethEllen. I will say, that it’s a cute story and some of the quips of the characters made me […]

But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even close, Not even a little bit, not even at all.

February 11, 2017 by kella 6 Comments

This was book #2 of yesterday’s “needing some light reading while sick” double header.  I picked this up based on CBR reviews because so many of you loved it. Lesson learned: y’all know what you’re talking about.  This was a perfect sickday book (except for how late I stayed up to finish it). Lucy and Josh are workplace rivals, both administrative assistants to publishing house CEOs, thrown into the same office after a company merger.  The loathe each other, but of course all is not […]

Here to rave about CBR8’s favorite romance

December 30, 2016 by yesknopemaybe 3 Comments

So many people raving about one book can’t be wrong so I rented this as soon as possible from the library and immediately fell head over heels. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes (see Much Ado About Nothing, Pride and Prejudice, and North and South). There’s something so incredibly satisfying about hate turning to love. The Hating Game did not disappoint. Lucy and Josh work as assistants to the co-CEOs of a publishing house called Bexley & Gamin. The publishing house used […]
