Family celebration

August 26, 2024 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I was reading A Turkish Rosh Hashanah (via an online reader copy though it has recently been released) by Etan Basseri and thought about The Light Keeper by Levin, Baslaw and Priestley. It is not because they have a similar theme, setting (one is set in Russian, one in Turkey), or even that the main characters are all Jewish, but it just had that feel of something familiar and yet, also different. It was sweet, interesting and a bit educational without being textbook-like. They both […]

Well Tzimmes for Tzipporah is a new book (or will be in September 2023) dealing with a farm during harvest time. It is written by Megan Hoyt and Christine Battuz […]

Not all Holidays are Christmas

Love All Year: A Holidays Anthology by Elizabeth Kahn

November 22, 2020 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

I loved this anthology of holiday romance novellas.  I knew I would. When Elizabeth announced she was putting together an anthology of romances centered around non-Christian holidays, I knew she would put out a thoughtful and entertaining book. I’m hoping this will be the first of many Love All Year anthologies. All of the stories were lovely, each in their own way. I wasn’t ready for any of them to be done when I reached the end. For the most part, the stories were about […]
