Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers

March 9, 2021 by wicherwill Leave a Comment

I think there’s a really great story about Dr. Grace Porter, newly minted astronomy PhD (just astronomy, nothing more specific than that) suddenly realizing that the semi-sheltered world of academia and the years she’s spent studying haven’t prepared her to deal with being an adult almost-30 human being. This story involves a cast of quirky(tm) friends (a veritable bingo card of characteristics and personalities), unresolved issues, and lots of good, honest work that takes place over time. Also I think I would kill for her […]

Digging up bones

A Grave Matter by Anna Lee Huber

March 9, 2021 by Catticus Finch Leave a Comment

This is book three in the Lady Darby historical mystery series –  she is the widow of the anatomist/physician who forced her to paint the illustrations for his textbooks.  After the death of a long time friend in book two, Kiera has retreated to the home of her brother Trevor.  She is still rather emotionally fragile, feeling like society will never accept her again due to the notoriety of her scandalous work.  She is also still confused over feelings for Sebastian Gage, the inquiry agent […]

I am hoping that you have misjudged yourself.

On the Way to the Wedding by Julia Quinn

March 7, 2021 by Leedock Leave a Comment

The last full length book in the Bridgerton series at last! Since the love birds here both have a fondness for breakfast, I will proceed with a comestible more appropriate to this novel. If book 8 in the Bridgerton series were a breakfast situation, it would be a scramble of 90’s Rom Coms with a side of Austen hash browns. Young George has come a long way from tossing peas across the dinner table and hiding frogs in his sisters’ beds. As the last of the Bridgerton brood to […]

New Year, New Me – Book 1!

Honest Illusions by Nora Roberts

March 4, 2021 by KatSings 5 Comments

Well, I’m back! I read 45 books last year and reviewed not a single one. It’s a shame, too – I read some really great stuff last year. Oh well, no sense harping on the past. Rather, let’s move ahead! Honest Illusions is another Nora Roberts book. If you’ve read a lot of my reviews, you know I read her fairly frequently. This is a stand alone, recommended to me (and purchased for me) by a friend. This romance focuses on the family Nouvelle, a […]

Cry Wolf

Twisty mystery and snarky humor

Cry Wolf by Charlie Adhara

March 2, 2021 by llamareadsbooks 2 Comments

“Dreams change. People change. Please just don’t stop giving me the chance to change with you.” I absolutely adore this series! Five books in, Oliver and Park feel like old friends, and I know to expect a good twisty mystery, lots of snarky humor, and a steamy and sweet relationship between them. This series can’t be read out of order, and this review will contain spoilers for previous books. “Ignorance and influence are rarely as unrelated as they should be. You have a lot more […]

I might just skip straight to the last book, which is about the hero’s dick brother. I’d be interested to see how she humanizes him.

Slightly Married (Bedwyn Saga, #1) by Mary Balogh

March 2, 2021 by narfna 2 Comments

About five to six years back, I bought a bunch of “classic” aka popular/former bestseller romance novels at my local used bookstore (and by bunch, I mean around twenty to thirty of them in one go) and have barely touched them since because I am a raccoon who is only attracted to shiny things. Pulled this one out of my TBR Jar, though, early in January, and it did feel nice to finally get around to it. And it was fine! Utterly normal, nothing surprising. […]
