Excellent book, God-awful cover. Seriously, Avon Marketing Department, WTF?

June 25, 2017 by Malin 3 Comments

This is book 2 in a trilogy and if you’ve not read Burn for Me yet, that’s where you really should begin. While you could begin the story with this one, you’ll get a better introduction to the story, characters and world-building if you start with book 1. It’s been a few months since the events of the first book, and Nevada has been practising her abilities, learning more about what she can do and how she can control them. She insists makes Augustine Montgomery […]

Husbands and Heartache

June 21, 2017 by Mikki Blu 2 Comments

“Seven husbands. Which one did she love best? Which one was the real one?” This book had me turning the pages pretty quickly to find out what would happen next, and I read nearly all of it in one day.  It tells the tale of  Hollywood legend Evelyn Hugo, who escaped the humble beginnings in Hell’s Kitchen to live out her dream of becoming an actress in Hollywood.  Born Evelyn Herrara, of Cuban descent, she is a blend of Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren and Elizabeth […]

My Fair Lad

June 18, 2017 by Lane Leave a Comment

From the Amazon description: Man about town Arthur Lawton spends his days pursuing entertainment while shoeshine Joe Sprat labors to better his family’s lives. When an argument about nature versus nurture sparks a wager, Arthur swears to a friend he can turn this working man into a gentleman who will pass at a society function. I loved this re imagining of My Fair Lady. It was sweet and funny, and boy did I like Arthur Lawton more than Higgins! I will admit beyond the music […]

Pirates and Kissing

June 13, 2017 by Lane 1 Comment

This was such a nice surprise. I expected a raunchy romance with a little bit of pirate stuff thrown in, but this is a proper adventure with sea battles, spies, and a lot of sailing talk, while still focusing on the characters. Kit has been struggling to fix his career with the British Navy after a disastrous voyage has tainted his reputation. He forced to accept a position as a valet just to get back out on the water. His bad luck holds when his […]

These people are in lust, not love

June 5, 2017 by Debcapsfan 1 Comment

I read Winning It All (Hometown Players) based on the description from the Smart Bitches, Trashy books twitter feed. I’ve been going to professional hockey games since I was a wee little sprite. The cover photo made me laugh for a long time. Also, one of my favorite players, Mathieu Perrault, is French Canadian. He once celebrated a win like this. Amazing, right? Anyway. so this book has Sebastian Deveau who plays defense for the pro team in Seattle (this may happen some day, but […]

F-ing Viking

June 2, 2017 by Lane 3 Comments

Captain Archie Curtis was wounded in an act of possible sabotage. He goes to a country house party in an attempt to find the truth. He is not alone in spying on their host. The mysterious Daniel de Silva is also sneaking around. Curtis is unsettled by his strong attraction to de Silva. He has always dallied with men, at school and in the army, but he never considered himself inverted, he just had his needs taken care of. He never wanted to kiss a […]
