The Fall of the House of Deschain

Dark Tower: The Fall of Gilead by Robin Furth

February 8, 2019 by Classic 4 Comments

Not too much to say here. We get to see Gilead before it’s fall. Constant Readers know about some of the events if you have read the other Dark Tower books. We have Roland reeling from killing his mother and Cort on his deathbed. Oh Roland. He is really a tragic figure. I know that King took inspiration from the Tales of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table when writing the Dark Tower. You just see more similarities in the comics than […]

Feels a Bit Like Filler, But I Still Loved It

March 6, 2017 by Classic Leave a Comment

I have to say the art in these graphic novels showing how our Roland becomes the Gunslinger that many long time King fans know and love is awesome. In issue #4 out of 7 in the first part of the series we have Roland and Susan admitting that something is between them and Roland falls in love. Of course long time readers know what is going to be happening next right? Cause if you don’t, I say look away. I am actually a bit nervous […]

Wizard and Glass Comes to Life in This Graphic Novel

February 9, 2017 by Classic Leave a Comment

I am going on vacation tomorrow and bought the next two issues as a treat to myself. I told myself to just wait and finish them over the weekend. But I have poor impulse control when it comes to reading. I am still really enjoying seeing “Wizard and Glass” brought to life in this graphic novel. The dialogue, the artwork, etc. is really well done. I think the best part though is once again seeing characters we have had in our heads sketched out in […]

Beginning of His Journey

February 8, 2017 by Classic Leave a Comment

So another great issue in the chronicles of the Gunslinger. Wow. Once again high marks to taking the most important parts of Wizard and Glass and bringing it to life in this graphic novel. We see that Roland’s father is not so inept that he does not realize what his wife has been up to for a couple of years now. Which kind of begs the question what was he thinking by letting it go on. I see some parallels to King Arthur and Guinevere […]

The Beginning of our Gunslinger

February 8, 2017 by Classic 2 Comments

The Gunslinger is brought to life in this graphic novel. I have all of the feels right now. Seriously. Watching how our Roland goes from being a young boy to a true Gunslinger in this issue hit all of the high notes. Roland Deschain who will one day walk alone to the Tower, I see you. And it is wonderful. “I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. I aim with my eye. […]
