I Liked Them Both

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

September 16, 2024 by Debcapsfan Leave a Comment

CBR Square- Horses I read Percy Jackson & The Olympians book 1- The Lightning Thief at the same time my son and I watched the series on Disney + and we really liked them both. He’s not done with the book but he has other books he’s reading first so that’s fine. There are a few differences between the two but the basic plot of the tv series and the book are the same. It’s fun to see the “shocking betrayal” through your kid’s eyes […]

I read this series when it was originally published and didn’t think about it much after I’d finished. I liked it, yes, but it wasn’t a new obsession for me and I never really planned on revisiting Percy’s world. Then I watched the teaser for the Disney+ show coming out next year and checked them out from the library and that’s how I spent my last two weeks. The series follows Percy Jackson, who finds out he’s a demigod, the son of Poseidon and a […]

The Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities: New Stories about Mythic Heroes

The Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities: New Stories about Mythic Heroes by Rick Riordan

October 21, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

Did Not Finish-10 percent Totally my fault on this one. I didn’t realize that most of these are stories about characters in prior books that have been published. I was totally lost in the first story and the fact that characters were going to different universes where they were stealing chickens. Yeah, that was something I read. I just decided to give it up because life is too short to be struggling with a book.

Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan

30 Books in 30 Days, Vol. 2 Book 27/30 So I read another Rick Riordan book after I said I was going to stop, but I just get so curious! And this is the first Middle Grade book he’s written in FOREVER that isn’t about demigods, and it’s a play on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which I used to love when I was a kid. And it was good! I didn’t love it, because it’s not for me, but I did like it, and […]

Diving In

Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan

February 3, 2022 by Amalthea 2 Comments

This is my first review and I am excited that it is for a Rick Riordan book (because it’s the book I happened to be reading this week). I first read a Percy Jackson book because my 9-year-old son wanted me to read it, so we could talk about it together. After reading the first chapter, I found myself compelled to read the next and the next, needing to know what happens to Percy. And then I read through the rest of the series, then […]

Will I quit you, Riordan? I still don’t know. This review is barely about the book, which was good!

The Tower of Nero (The Trials of Apollo, #5) by Rick Riordan

February 22, 2021 by narfna Leave a Comment

I did end up liking this series ender. As up and down as I’ve been with this series, it could have gone either way for me. This book definitely got the closest to my preferred version of the series, which had Apollo actually realizing the consequences of his actions and not just joking his way through some pretty serious stuff. Although, it still never gelled for me that Apollo the God and Lester the Teenager were the same character. There was some moves towards that […]
