Her Too?

Dark Sacred Night by Michael Connelly

May 24, 2024 by Jake Leave a Comment

Ok so this is actually one of the better Connelly books I’ve read. It definitely merits the 4-star. So why three? There’s just this one thing I can’t let go and I can’t discuss it without spoilers… Also, these spoilers are going to reference the #MeToo Movement and sexual assault in general. I won’t go into graphic detail but if any of that makes you uncomfortable, give it a pass… (Spoilers ahead) Ok so Connelly wrote this at the height of the #MeToo Movement. I […]

Some more Bosch!!

The Dark Hours (Harry Bosch #23, Renee Ballard #4) by Michael Connelly

Desert Star (Harry Bosch #24, Renee Ballard #5) by Michael Connelly

I got so excited when I saw this book was available at my library. I immediately borrowed it and started listening. And within the first few minutes I realized that I had totally already read it! I thought initially that it was the new Bosch / Ballard book I had been waiting for. A few minutes after realizing I had already read it though, I decided that I had liked it the first time around, and enough time had passed between readings that I’d just […]

Rousing roundup of Michael Connelly / Bosch Universe books

The Law of Innocence by Michael Connelly

The Dark Hours by Michael Connelly

Blue on Black by Michael Connelly

Dangerous Women by Michael Connelly and various other authors

Last year (literally the beginning of January 2021) I started reading the Detective Harry Bosch books.  There are twenty something in total that are just Bosch books.  There are also some offshoots that are considered part of the Harry Bosch Universe.  They include: Mickey Haller – Bosch’s half brother, and the Lincoln Lawyer (obviously the book first, but the Matthew McConaughey movie character too), Jack McEvoy – a reporter that intersects with Harry a few times, Terry McCaleb – an FBI agent who works with […]

Tonight’s Show, We Have…

October 24, 2018 by Jake Leave a Comment

I’ve had a hankering to read quality Los Angeles mystery tales. It’s tough to find ones that don’t treat the city like either a playground for the rich and famous or a hell for never was-es to slum in. I don’t know much about LA but I’ve always been fascinated by it. I know plenty about New York City and I know the truth is somewhere in between its extreme portrayals and I assume the city of angels is the same. Michael Connelly’s books kind […]
