The Red Woman returns, you insect-humping wretches!

Red Sonja: Consumed by Gail Simone

November 20, 2024 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

I really like Gail Simone’s run of Red Sonja comics. I was very intrigued to see what she would do in a longer format without pictures. Red Sonja:Consumed is very good. It takes a little time to bring the pieces together, but once it does, it flies. I definitely recommend it for appreciators of a barbarian adventure, women who take charge of their own destinies, and cranky horses. It starts with a queen and a jeweled asp. Sonja has stolen a prized piece of jewelry from […]

Red Sonja Can Wear What She Wants

June 29, 2017 by Emmalita 2 Comments

The first thing you will notice about the cover is that Red Sonja has gone into battle in a bikini. Ah, the amazingly protective battle bikini. There is one reason that I am reading Red Sonja – Gail Simone. She did not disappoint me. Gail Simone’s Red Sonja is fierce and grumpy. Simone leans in to the ridiculous bikini armor early so that when she gets into the story, you aren’t thinking about it. Somehow, even with the bikini battle armor, Simone’s Red Sonja is […]

3.5 stars Red Sonja, the legendary She-Devil with a Sword, returns to Corinthia, to repay the blood-debt she owes to its ruler. Facing a battle against impossible odds, Sonja nonetheless agrees to lead what remains of Corinthia’s fighting forces against its enemies, and comes face to face with Dark Annisia, a woman from her past. Having to face crushing defeat on the battlefield, unable to keep her promises to a man who once saved her life, Sonja is exiled and doomed to die. Always a […]

Xena’s Got Nothing on Her

January 18, 2016 by Quorren 2 Comments

I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did.  I mainly picked it up out of loyalty to Gail Simone.  Gail Simone has also been synonymous with Batgirl, but after the New 52, the rumor is that she butted heads with DC, not enjoying the changes they were forcing onto Batgirl, so she quit.  Dynamite grabbed her up immediately because the only comic book company out there that still doesn’t get it about women being another demographic that buys comic books is […]
