Ruffled Feathers: an Omegaverse Romcom by Grace McGinty

April 25, 2025 by katie71483 Leave a Comment

Grace McGinty’s Ruffled Feathers: An Omegaverse Romcom makes for such a delightful palate cleanser after some of the truly dark romance that I’ve been reading lately. Romcom is the perfect descriptor for this luscious bonbon. There are multiple meet cutes since it’s a why choose romance. There are amusing high jinx involving adorable animals. Which is not to say that it’s completely saccharine. There are some mild taboos – the FMC and one of the MMCs are stepsiblings, but their parents didn’t meet and get […]

Evocation (The Summoner's Circle, #1) by S.T. Gibson

August 13, 2024 by narfna Leave a Comment

Urban fantasy but not? The center of the plot here is actually the developing relationship between its three main characters: David, Moira, and Rhys. Really, the demon possession is just background. But it’s good background! Here’s the set-up: David and Rhys used to date in college. David comes from a family steeped in magic and has been groomed since the age of five to become the head of the secret society his family started, and his dad was abusive. David is an alcoholic and it […]

Here you have a twist on the Oaxacan, which is a twist on the old-fashioned, which itself is a twist on the Holland gin, and so it goes, on and on and on, all the way back to the beginning.

Triple Sec by T.J. Alexander

June 3, 2024 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

Happy Pride Month! First of all, T.J. Alexander’s Dedication at the beginning of Triple Sec reads “to all sluts everywhere–cheers.” The rest of the book is as delightful as the dedication. We get to see the formation of a happy polycule, a woman come into her own, and the creation of many alcoholic beverages. Mel Sorrento is a career bar tender working at a swanky New York City cocktail lounge. She’s good at her job, and maybe a little bored serving the tech bros and […]

Jolene doesn’t have red hair, okay?

The Home-wrecker by Sara Cate

April 15, 2024 by katie71483 Leave a Comment

Sara Cate continues to be one of my favorite romance authors. Her new novel, The Home-wrecker, is the second installment in a series about the Goode family, a family recovering from the toxic Christianity of its fallen-from-grace patriarch who happens to have been a megachurch pastor before being brought up on attempted murder charges. Wow, that sentence is a mouthful, especially since he’s a secondary character.  Caleb is a successful defense attorney who is married to Briar, his college sweetheart. Like many couples, they are […]

The vibes of Castlevania plus queer polyamorous vampires.

Silver Under Nightfall (Reaper, #1) by Rin Chupeco

November 21, 2023 by narfna Leave a Comment

If you’re here for the vibes, you will like this book. I was indeed here for those vibes. I like Castlevania. I like queerness and sexiness. I like a darker fantasy. I like conflicted main characters. But there really isn’t anything here for someone to grab onto if you need more than vibes. I am a little sad to say that it was a more shallow reading experience than I was expecting. I’m saying shallow but clearly I enjoyed myself, with a four star rating. […]

Very Tired Pawns

Cruel Seduction by Katee Robert

October 17, 2023 by Pooja 4 Comments

CBR 15 Bingo- Getaway: Not that I mind thinking about South America, but I simply don’t have any book coming up that’s related to it, and I want to black out my bingo board! I supposed Katee Robert’s work is pretty escapist too. Eris must wed Theseus, who made his way into the Thirteen through murder, to keep a closer eye on him. To irk him she takes up with his best friend Pandora; to irk her he takes up with her ex-boyfriend Adonis. But […]
