July 8, 2014 by Malin Leave a Comment

Summary from Goodreads: Two Lonely Hearts… Kalindi MacNeil survived the devastating enemy airship attack that obliterated Liverpool, but even her engineering skills can’t seem to repair her broken heart. Seeking to put her life back together, Kali retreats to a desolate, deserted island – only to discover that she’s not alone. Captain Fletcher Adams, an elite man/machine hybrid, a Man O’War, crashed his battle-damaged airship into this deserted island after Liverpool, never expecting to survive the wreck. The Dumbest Kiss

June 17, 2014 by alwaysanswerb 4 Comments

This book. Don’t read it. It was a Vaginal Fantasy pick, but an awful one. The plot was uninteresting, the pacing jarring, the writing juvenile and uninspired, and the characters flat and insipid. Gunmetal Magic is a story about Andrea, best friend to Kate Daniels aka The One the Series Is Named After. Goodreads summarizes the story thusly: “After being kicked out of the Order of the Knights of Merciful Aid, Andrea’s whole existence is in shambles. She tries to put herself back together by working for Cutting Edge, a small investigative firm owned by her best friend. When several shapeshifters working for Raphael Medrano—the male alpha of the Clan Bouda, and Andrea’s former lover—die unexpectedly at a […]

She blinded me with magic

This will be a comprehensive review for the six currently published books in the Kate Daniels series, which do not differ significantly in tone or quality, but each have their own novel-length mystery or case and each contribute to an overarching theme story. Differences in my ratings have to do with my particular interest in the specific plotline and advancement of the series-running arch in each book, but overall, I like this series, and if you like one you’ll find the rest worth reading. There […]
