Angels and Demons

January 27, 2015 by soapyme 2 Comments

Just look at that cover! Back in high school I would have snatched this book up so fast. And I bet I would have fallen in love with it too. I’d heard so many nice things about Daughter of Smoke and Bone, so I couldn’t wait to read it and be blown away. My expectations may have been unfairly high, but while I did like it, I didn’t swoon like other people did. The world Laini Taylor builds is so spectacular, and I was hooked from the first page. Blue-haired, whip-smart Karou is a 17-year-old art student living by herself […]

You Rub Me The Right Way

January 26, 2015 by soapyme 2 Comments

Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Paranormal high school romance with a genie, of all things? It sounds like a parody – a bad one. But this book is SO. FRICKIN’. CUTE. Margo McKenna knows she nailed the audition for her high school’s production of Sweeney Todd. She loves the musical, she has the talent, and she’s a senior. Imagine her surprise – and displeasure – when some random sophomore is cast as Mrs. Lovett and she’s left playing Toby. Margo tries to be a good […]

Supernatural Fight Club

December 29, 2014 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

Magic Strikes has Kate Daniels working another case involving Atlanta’s shapeshifter community (aka The Pack). She arrives on the scene of a double shapeshifter homicide. She sees her friend and sometime partner, Jim, who abruptly takes her off the case citing Pack business. Essentially, telling her to stay the f*@k out of it. Kate obviously finds this a bit rude, but hey now she gets to go home early. Later that night, she is forced to bail Derek, a werewolf pal, out of a sticky situation with Saiman, a rich […]
