So much angst and pining and a big sabre-toothed snow cat (Double Cannonball!)

A Touch of Stone and Snow by Milla Vane

December 31, 2020 by Malin 2 Comments

Official book description (cause I haven’t finished the book yet): Danger lurks in the western realms. The Destroyer’s imminent return has sent the realms into turmoil as desperate citizens seek refuge—but there’s no safety to be found when demons and wraiths crawl out from the shadows. Even Koth, a northern island kingdom left untouched by the Destroyer a generation past, is besieged by terrors spawned from corrupt magics. When Lizzan leads the Kothan army against these terrors, only to see her soldiers massacred and to […]

Blood, Iron, and Bone

Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs

Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs

Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs

December 30, 2020 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

I started the Mercy Thompson series when Moon Called was selected for the VF book club in 2015. I enjoyed the first book but got caught up with other urban fantasy series from Ilona Andrews and Kim Harrison. Over the summer, I was reminded of the series during a virtual Mocha Girls Read meeting. I decided to dive back in with the audio narration and ended up reading three in a row. Mercedes (Mercy) Thompson isn’t looking for trouble in the tri-cities area of Washington. […]

Don’t insult a goddess in her own temple – gonna have a bad time

The Beast of Blackmoor by Milla Vane

December 30, 2020 by Malin 2 Comments

Mala, sent on a quest by the goddess Vela, comes to Blackmoor to locate and tam the legendary Beast. She initially believes the beast to be a demonically possessed mammoth that plagues the area and is surprised when she instead discovers that it is the warrior Tavik, who she first met protecting a caravan of refugees from blood-thirsty revenants. Tavik is pretty much a broken man, who once foolishly defiled a temple of Vela and now believes that everything that happened since then is divine […]

Leopard lovers

Mine to Possess (Psy-Changeling #4) by Nalini Singh

Hostage to Pleasure (Psy-Changeling #5) by Nalini Singh

December 28, 2020 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

I returned to Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series after loving the first three books. In this shared universe, the Dark River leopard changelings (aka shifters) control the greater Sam Francisco area. They have pissed off the Psy council who basically run the world with their psychic powers. Some of the psychics have defected to the shifters and messing with the power balance. It’s so interesting to meet the love interests with the political elements woven into their story. Clay in Mine to Possess is a Dark […]

These fierce Honey Badger sisters are not meant to be underestimated

Hot and Badgered (Honey Badger Chronicles #1) by Shelly Laurenston

In a Badger Way (Honey Badger Chronicles #2) by Shelly Laurenston

December 26, 2020 by teresaelectro 1 Comment

Since I enjoyed Shelly Laurenston’s Call of Crows series, I started her new trilogy focused on shifters rather than Viking warriors. We got a very small peek of the shifter world in the Crow books, so I was intrigued. The Honey Badger Chronicles follows the misadventures of three sisters who can’t seem to stay out of trouble. I fell in love with these feisty shifter women almost instantly. I thought the Crow warrior women were intense and uncouth, but these fierce sisters are fearless AF […]

Love in the time of chaos

Chaos Burning by Lauren Dane

December 24, 2020 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

Chaos Burning is the second Bound by Magick novel by Lauren Dane. I LOVED the first book, Hearts of Darkness, and hunted down the entire series. This go-round, we meet a new witch named Lark Jaansen. She has been kicking ass and taking names in Los Angeles. After the dangerous attack in the first book, Lark arrives in Seattle to teach these witches how to fight dirty. Just in time for a big bad of apocalyptic proportions to show up. It likes to devour Others […]
