What were the choices? She had a bed-making intruder, she’d done it on autopilot, or the place was haunted. With bed-making ghosts.

Inheritance by Nora Roberts

August 4, 2023 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

Nora Roberts starts off her new series, The Lost Bride Trilogy, with a couple of classic tropes – coming home early to find your fiancé in bed with another person, and discovering you have an unknown wealthy relative who has died and left you a manor house and the funds to care for it. These things happen to Sonya in different chapters, but neither is a spoiler. The newly single Sonya discovers her father had an unknown twin, who has left her the family home […]

She had sex before pizza, which didn’t surprise her in the least.

Identity by Nora Roberts

February 28, 2023 by Emmalita Leave a Comment

I have an occasional argument with a friend who is certain that Nora Roberts has a stable of ghost writers and I am certain that she writes every word of her own books because the author voice is so consistent. I haven’t actually read a new Nora Roberts book in a few years, but Identity was like putting on an old familiar sweater. Of course Nora Roberts has evolved as an author over her 40+ year career, but I still know a Nora Roberts book […]

My first Nora Roberts

Dance Upon the Air by Nora Roberts

December 29, 2022 by teresaelectro 2 Comments

I’ve been collecting Nora Roberts’s novels for a few years. My first acquisition was Dance Upon the Air, the first in the Three Sisters Island trilogy. As a lover of romance and witchy protagonists, I knew I’d love it. We meet Nell as she moves to the Three Sisters island. She isn’t sure how she ended up here. It’s almost like she was drawn to the place. The book toys whether this was magic or coincidence. All she wants is a fresh start after a mysterious […]

What Ever Happened to Baby Darren?

Public Secrets by Nora Roberts

December 20, 2022 by Pooja 2 Comments

After being rescued from her abusive mother, Emma goes on to live a charmed life with her father and his wife – at least until a tragedy befalls the whole family. This is an older Nora, and one I picked up because the premise reminded me of those family saga/career girl dramas from the 80s that I love, and indeed I wasn’t disappointed in that regard. In many ways this is a coming-of-age story for Emma, and there was plenty of drama and excess to […]

Halloween Nora Roberts is not the best Nora Roberts

The Pagan Stone by Nora Roberts

December 12, 2022 by Wanderlustful Leave a Comment

Halloween Nora! This one definitely felt more Halloween-y and thriller-focused than romance-focused. It’s the third in a trilogy and I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to have read any of the others to understand what’s going on here (you’ll ‘spoil’ the ending to the other two in that a) all of the characters survive until this third book; and b) you’ll know which of the 6 main characters couple off together- but frankly those aren’t real spoilers in the Nora Roberts world). […]

Nightwork

Nightwork by Nora Roberts

July 8, 2022 by Classic Leave a Comment

I think it’s time for Roberts to just write a straight up mystery and forget about the romance side of things. You can feel her itching to do it. This is supposedly romantic suspense, but it’s so light on that it feels like a misnomer to categorize it as such. It doesn’t help that we follow a character (Harry Booth) that is so morally grey you have to wonder why Roberts has him as our “hero.” “Nightwork” follows Harry Booth who at age 9 starts […]
