Let’s keep all the Holmes’ together

Sherlock Holmes #3 The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle

Enola Holmes #9 Enola Holmes and the Mark of the Mongoose by Nancy Springer

Sherlock Holmes #6 The Return of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle

October 27, 2023 by kfishgirl 1 Comment

So I got into Sherlock Holmes via his sister Enola. I read all of the Enola Holmes books when my niece wanted to watch the movies on Netflix a bit ago. I love her as a character, and Sherlock is in most of her books, so I figured I’d check him out. I must say I like Enola’s Sherlock better than the original Sherlock. He’s a bit prickly and I think has some untreated mental disorders. This book is a collection of short stories, which […]

The Last Enola Holmes book

The Case of the Gypsy Good-Bye / The Case of the Disappearing Duchess (Enola Holmes #6) by Nancy Springer

July 10, 2023 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This book has two titles. I’m guessing it’s because “gypsy” isn’t the best label. It’s literally just describing the bands of gypsy people that Enola’s mom escaped with though. At any rate, there are two story lines in this book. Enola gets a message from her mom (the gypsy good-bye), and there’s also a missing duchess. Of course, both Enola and Sherlock are looking for the missing Lady Blanchefleur del Campo. Unfortunately for Sherlock, he’s not so great at missing persons cases, and Enola is. […]

Two more Enola Holmes books!

Enola Holmes and the Black Barouche (Enola Holmes #7) by Nancy Springer

Enola Holmes and the Elegant Escapade (Enola Holmes #8) by Nancy Springer

I just love Enola so much. She just fully refuses to be a proper lady like she’s “supposed” to be. At this point her pain in the butt brothers have realized that she can’t be tamed or sent to a boarding school, or whatever they want to do to make her a proper lady. They thankfully just let her be her awesome self. We start this story with her brother Sherlock being mopey and most likely in the throes of a depressive episode. Miss Letitia […]

A whole bunch of Enola Holmes!

The Case of the Bizarre Bouquets (Enola Holmes #3) by Nancy Springer

The Case of the Left-Handed Lady (Enola Holmes #2) by Nancy Springer

The Case of the Peculiar Pink Fan (Enola Holmes #4) by Nancy Springer

The Case of the Cryptic Crinoline (Enola Holmes #5) by Nancy Springer

Enola Holmes and the Boy in Buttons (Enola Holmes #6.5) by Nancy Springer

Somehow, I read book three in the Enola Holmes series before book two. I feel like it’s been a long time since I did that! (I used to accidentally do it all the time somehow) Anyway, Enola is still in hiding from her meddling brothers who just want to make a lady out of her. She super does not want to be made a lady. I’m fully taken in by the character of Enola Holmes. It’s so hard for me to envision a world where […]

The Enola Holmes (movie) book

The Case of the Missing Marquess (Enola Holmes #1) by Nancy Springer

December 30, 2022 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

This book was pretty short. I think it was about a five hour audiobook. I liked the narrator though and the story moved along. If you’ve seen the Enola Holmes movie, you know the general plot of this book. The movie was not fully true to the book, but I could understand why the movie changed the parts that it did. I pictured Millie Bobby Brown as Enola the whole time though. Watching the movie first doesn’t actually spoil the book either, which was fun. […]

Rather Charming

The Case of the Missing Marquess by Nancy Springer

July 16, 2022 by Ellesfena Leave a Comment

Bingo: Adapt (adapted into a Netflix movie, and Enola also has to adapt to dramatically changing circumstances) For some reason, I tend to start new books with the assumption that they won’t be anything special. This feels pessimistic but on the other hand, maybe it saves me from disappointment when a book actually isn’t special, and it gives me a pleasant surprise when a book is good. I didn’t expect to like The Case of the Missing Marquess, just because I’m not really a huge fan […]
