Selkies are hard to resist

Selkies Are a Girl's Best Friend by Molly Harper

December 31, 2023 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

I love the Mystic Bayou series and picked up the fourth audiobook, Selkies Are a Girl’s Best Friend Goodreads synopsis: Sonja Fong isn’t afraid of a little chaos. As director of the league’s research center in Mystic Bayou, a tiny town in Louisiana that’s home to supernatural creatures and humans alike, she’s responsible for making sure things run smoothly. It’s not an easy task when her daily memos include lines like, “New equipment is needed because the old equipment was destroyed by a temper tantrum […]

Love and Other Wild Things is the second book in the Mystic Bayou series by Molly Harper. Said bayou deep in Louisana attracts magical beings. The town is near a mysterious rift that’s catnip to shifters, witches, and any other magic being that you name. Decades ago humans and magi settled in Mystic Bayou. They mostly live in harmony. Through the series, we meet scientists who have come to observe and research the unique place. In the first book, How to Date Your Dragon, an […]

Three things happened that resulted in a multiday binge of the Mystic Bayou series, narrated by Amanda Ronconi and Jonathon Davis. One, some reader friends have been talking positively about the series for a while. Two, the entire series is included in my Audible membership. Three, I needed a long break from reality because sometimes reality sucks. The Mystic Bayou series is 5 novels and 2 novellas (so far). That’s about 39 1/2 hours of bingeing. Mystic Bayou is a small town in Southern Louisiana […]

A small town paranormal romance reminiscent of Northern Exposure

How to Date Your Dragon (Mystic Bayou #1) by Molly Harper

March 28, 2021 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

Molly Harper’s paranormal romance series kicks off with How to Date Your Dragon. I previously read a novella from this universe for CBR11 called Even Tree Nymphs Get the Blues. The world was hilarious and the story didn’t skimp on the heat. I meant to go back to the beginning last year, but the ‘Rona made me totally forget about it. Mystic Bayou, Louisiana is a small town where humans and magical beings coexist in this unique harmony. Jillian works for a secret organization that […]
