I know, intellectually, that some people find horror to be cathartic and therapeutic. I may think those people are crazy, but you know I understand that they exist. I am not one of those people, I am the person who spent the whole night in terror because I finished Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None at midnight and was so haunted by the imagery and the deaths that I couldn’t get to sleep (I was 20). And yet, the power of my love for […]
Book 2 in Newsflesh
Ok so this is book 2 for the Newsflesh trilogy. I loooved book 1. Book 2 was kind of a chore. I listened to it on my library’s app. Sometimes I feel like an audiobook swims or sinks based on the voice talent. I know that’s not a revolutionary opinion, but hear me out. I know The Girl with All the Gifts was a freaking awesome book. Listening to Finty Williams read it made it nearly magical. I loved it so hard. I don’t think […]
Back to ZOMBIES! Yay!!
I loved this book. I really did. I just spent the last two and a half hours finishing it, because I couldn’t stop. I loved the characters. I loved the point of view. I loved the idea of the virus and where it came from. Ok, enough praise. If you’ve ever read Mira Grant and liked her, I suspect this book is for you. I started out last year with her Parasitology trilogy. I liked them a lot, and I kept hearing about the Newsflesh […]
The final Parasitology book
Ok so this is the final book in the Parasitology book. Everything is all sorted out. At this point, Sal has been a semi-prisoner at home and at SymboGen, an actual prisoner at USAMRIID, an escapee from USAMRIID, then a prisoner of Sherman’s, an escapee from Sherman’s, and finally a willing returnee to both USAMRIID and Sherman’s. At this point, the “sleepwalkers” or the “throwbacks” are fairly under control. Both USAMRIID and Sherman have been collecting them for various reasons. The government is trying to […]
Now that Sal knows the truth… J/K there is so much more to learn!
This is book 2 of the Parasitology trilogy. Apparently it was supposed to be a duology, but Ms. Grant had a lot more to say! Symbiont is a bit different than Parasite (book 1) was. Sal knows who she is, but she’s still trying to figure a lot of details out. She knows she can trust her boyfriend & her dogs, & everybody else she’s (rightfully) wary about. There are a LOT LOT LOT of “sleepwalkers” in this book. I was trying to explain […]
My tapeworm tells me what to do
FYI – doing a search for “Parasite” on Amazon brings up some really weird choices: and Am I not properly cleansing myself of intestinal worms? It freaked me out a little bit. Anyway… the book: I really liked this book. I had read a sample of this book a while ago from Amazon. I was so interested, but since I read so many books, I’m kind of a cheap-o. Enter my library! I was so excited when I saw they had this book. I […]
