A historical romance with pranks is what I never knew I needed

A Beastly Kind of Earl by Mia Vincy

August 14, 2020 by Nart Leave a Comment

This book is full on bonkers, in the best way. It constantly borders on being too silly, too ludicrous, too impossible to believe, and then pulls back just enough to keep you in on the ride. Plot: Thea is very nearly a manic pixie dream girl who loves pranks so long as the cause is good and the people being pranked suck. Rafe is a very nearly standard alphahole who is being maneuvered into marriage to Lady Arabella (fancy lady and Thea’s close friend) to […]

A book that manages to juggle serious storytelling with slapstick humour

A Wicked Kind of Husband by Mia Vincy

May 5, 2020 by Nart 1 Comment

This book was recently reviewed by Malin and was sufficient to induce me to get it. Content warnings: deaths of spouses, children, parents. Suicide. Miscarriages. One instance of really really on the line consent stuff. Plot: Cassandra is jilted by fiance. Her father arranges for Joshua, a friend and business magnate to marry her instead, because only married women can inherit property (through their husbands, since they didn’t legally exist as distinct from their husbands) to make sure she can keep the property in the family […]

A debut romance that is MUCH better than its painfully pink cover would indicate

A Wicked Kind of Husband by Mia Vincy

March 18, 2020 by Malin 3 Comments

4.5 stars Official book description: Cassandra DeWitt has seen her husband only once—on their wedding day two years earlier—and this arrangement suits her perfectly. She has no interest in the rude, badly behaved man she married only to secure her inheritance. She certainly has no interest in his ban on her going to London. Why, he’ll never even know she is there. Until he shows up in London too, and Cassandra finds herself sharing a house with the most infuriating man in England. Joshua DeWitt […]
