My Best Friend’s Honeymoon by Meryl Wilsner

My Best Friend’s Honeymoon is somehow the first book I’ve read by Meryl Wilsner. I enjoyed it a lot and now I get to go read their backlist. I listened to an advance copy narrated by Blair Baker and Emily Shaw. I thought they did a great job bringing the book to life. Elsie’s fiancé, Derek, plans and schedules the wedding that Elsie has said she’s too busy and overwhelmed to plan. When he shows Elsie the venue and lets her know they are getting […]

Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner

June 4, 2024 by Bea Pants Leave a Comment

I’m always interested in Sapphic romance that features woman in middle age, so I was immediately drawn to Mistakes Were Made. While the overall story was engaging and fun, I had trouble connecting with the characters and buying into the central love story. But it was a fun read with some great love scenes that I would recommend for a quick vacation read. College senior Cassie is in an off-campus bar avoiding family weekend. Erin is in the same bar avoiding her ex-husband while he […]

Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the audio ARC. It hasn’t affected the contents of my review. I’m seriously so torn on whether to round this one up or down. I’d written this author off after reading their first book, which didn’t work for me at all. But this premise sounded really cute and I’d seen some good-ish reviews, so I thought I’d give them another shot. And this is indeed a much better book than their first! (I still don’t want to read […]

*slaps roof* This Thing Can Fit So Much Gay Sex In It

Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner

November 30, 2022 by Abi 1 Comment

Somewhere midway through the chapter two “Oh no my friend brought me to breakfast with my one night stand from last night and it’s her mom” scene of Mistakes Were Made I realised that Meryl Wilsner had sucked me in for the ride. It was truly an outstanding entry in the awkward reunion genre, a little awkward, a little sexy, a little funny. It set the tone for the rest of the book, and it was enough to get me over my general mistrust of […]

YMMV on this one. I bounced hard off it but other people have really seemed to like it.

Something to Talk About by Meryl Wilsner

August 4, 2020 by narfna 2 Comments

NB: I received a free ARC of this book from Netgalley, but that hasn’t affected the content of my review. This was one of my most anticipated books of the year, and I ended up being pretty disappointed with it. It’s pretty rare that a book charms me the way this one did, only to fizzle out so hard later on. Usually if I’m going to dislike a book, I know almost right away. But really, the first third of this book was great! I […]

Nothing to Care About

Something to Talk About by Meryl Wilsner

May 28, 2020 by surebitch 2 Comments

I’m a cover whore. Oftentimes, it only takes a cute cover for me to buy a book. I know it’s a compulsion I should reign in, along with buying drinks because the can is adorable, but alas, I haven’t yet. When Something to Talk About popped up in my Goodreads feed, I was in love. My anticipation for the book was sky-high—finally a Sapphic book with a cover that made me swoon but that wasn’t about teenagers (nothing wrong with that, but I remained closeted […]
