Rocket Raccoon is the best.

March 22, 2015 by narfna 3 Comments

I read some article over the summer when the Guardians of the Galaxy movie came out that listed this as one of the books I should check out if I wanted to beef up on Marvel shnizz before seeing it. I never got around to it, and I’m kinda glad. I would have expected a much different movie afterwards if I had. This is actually the book where the current incarnation of the GOTG were created. Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning pulled together the new […]

Overstuffed and implausible, but still a fun read.

See, this is what happens when you read comics. Reading one inevitably leads to you reading another, and then another, and then oh you have to read this other one to understand that one, and oh then that one because it introduces these characters, and then oh that one because it was the start of the run, and blah blah blah, somehow you end up ordering seven new trade paperbacks in one afternoon, and then your library won’t let you order anymore. This is how […]

– – – Meet Carol Danvers. She used to be a pilot, but after the explosion of a Kree device gifted her with alien powers, now she’s an Avenger who lives in the top of the Statue of Liberty and makes out with Iron Patriot on the side. She’s the kind of gal who takes her cat into space. She loves Star Wars and punching people. We have only just met, but I love her. Even before I really got into the story, I was […]

When Good Superheros Go Rogue

July 7, 2014 by ModernLove Leave a Comment

I have a confession to make. Please don’t judge me for this, but before I saw The Avengers I didn’t know anything about Marvel Comics. I hadn’t seen any of the other movies yet. I’d heard about them, of course, but they never interested me enough to really make the effort to see them. After The Avengers, though, I made a point to watch them all and now own most of them. I eagerly read each piece of news about the new movies as they […]
