Cover of Kate Canterbary’s In a Rush. The title is over astroturf with a white pain line across the top.

“It’s always been real for us.”

In a Rush by Kate Canterbary

When I finished reading In a Jam by Kate Canterbary in July, I ordered the second book in her Friendship, RI series as quickly as I could. I was so pleased with Canterbary’s style that I knew I wanted more of it. While I four-star loved In a Rush, it paled slightly in comparison. If In a Jam was a 4.5 rounded up, In a Rush is a 4.25 rounded down. Which is not a huge difference, but so much was the same between the two books that I couldn’t help but compare them to one another and while it all still worked a treat for me, Emme […]

“Hope was such a sticky thing. And it was sneaky too. Always showing up in the moments it was least welcome.”

In a Jam by Kate Canterbary

I spent two weeks traveling earlier this month and decided a hefty 450-page romance would be an excellent choice to keep me company on planes and in hotel rooms. I was very right. I have spent the past three years adding Kate Canterbary books to my to read list thanks to a review by emmalita of The Worst Guy. Unfortunately for me, her books aren’t available through my library system so when I came across a sale, I decided that In a Jam would be […]

Isn’t There a White Knight Upon a Fiery Steed?

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

Love Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood

Not in Love by Ali Hazelwood

Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood

Alternate Titles: Obtuse Women and the Men Who Love Them Tall, Professional Man Owns His Own Home What Makes Us Vulnerable Makes Us Human This contemporary romance review started with just The Love Hypothesis and morphed into an amalgamated Ali Hazelwood catchall. I didn’t combine them just because it’s quicker, but because I really struggled with conveying my feelings about The Love Hypothesis. Then I had had a bit of breakthrough while re-reading it Love Theoretically and Not in Love for Cannonball Read honesty purposes, then I […]

“What I am is an adult woman with agency and the tools to make choices. Feel free to, you know, treat me accordingly.”

Nowhere Book Bingo: One-word title CBR16 Sweet Books: Exciting (This was one of my most anticipated book releases of the first half of 2024) Misery Lark is the only daughter of a powerful vampyre councilman, and for much of her life, she lived among human strangers as a diplomatic hostage, to maintain the fragile peace between vampyres and humans. To make her a bit less lonely, an orphan named Serena came to live with her, and now that Misery is all grown-up, Serena is her […]

Very Tired Pawns

Cruel Seduction by Katee Robert

October 17, 2023 by Pooja 4 Comments

CBR 15 Bingo- Getaway: Not that I mind thinking about South America, but I simply don’t have any book coming up that’s related to it, and I want to black out my bingo board! I supposed Katee Robert’s work is pretty escapist too. Eris must wed Theseus, who made his way into the Thirteen through murder, to keep a closer eye on him. To irk him she takes up with his best friend Pandora; to irk her he takes up with her ex-boyfriend Adonis. But […]

“I guess maybe that’s how it works in families that love each other unconditionally. You can fight without fear of losing them, and be honest without consequences or repercussions.”

Kiss Her Once For Me by Alison Cochrun

January 3, 2023 by narfna Leave a Comment

I’m two for two with Alison Cochrun! Although, for me, the slight edge goes to The Charm Offensive, I still really enjoyed my time with this second book of hers. Last Christmas, Ellie met Jack in Powell’s when they both went for a copy of Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home, and over a cute argument over “shared custody”, and Jack poking gentle fun at Ellie (who had been crying alone and talking to a footstool as if it were her friend) they start to bond. Jack […]
