“Our family histories are simply stories. They are myths we create about the people who came before us, in order to make sense of ourselves.”

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

CBR Bingo – Dwelling I am a huuuuuuuge fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid. The first book of hers I consumed was the audio version of “Daisy Jones and the Six” which I loved 5000; the same can be said for everything else of hers I’ve read. She is pure MAGIC, an author who is so talented and adept at making historical fiction seem like non-fiction that I’m a little suspicious she may have gone down to Georgia and fiddled against the devil in order to […]

“Just because it is in Malibu’s nature to burn, so was it in one particular person’s nature to set fire and walk away.”

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

TJR did it again. She’s very good at what she does. This book is extremely readable, and I think it might even be my favorite of the three books of hers I’ve read so far. I loved Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones, but this one spoke to me personally in a way those didn’t. Bad dads and dysfunctional families, what are you going to do. Malibu, 1983. The four Riva siblings throw an end of summer party every year that has become infamous. If you […]
