Finishing an Exceptional Series and Grading on a Curve

September 21, 2018 by Alexis 4 Comments

This is the 10th book in a series that is arguably the pinnacle of urban fantasy writing to date. If you have any interest in urban fantasy with strong female characters, rich world-building, stellar smolder, and compelling action then this is the series for you. If you’ve picked up a few urban fantasy books and have been turned off by the cliched alpha-males, derivative world-building, and predictable plots, then this series is for you. If you like believably flawed and compelling female protagonists, then this […]

#CBR10Bingo: This is the end – Magic Triumphs

September 21, 2018 by Malin 2 Comments

#CBR10Bingo: This is the end This is the tenth and final book in a long running series. As such, there may be spoilers for the contents of at least previous books, as well as mild spoilers for the plot of this one. More importantly, it is NOT the place to start. The proper place to begin is Magic Bites. The book is a bit rough, but stick with it, this series is among the best paranormal fantasy out there. I’ve spent more than eleven hours on a […]

War, what is it good for? (A bloody good book, that’s what)

September 14, 2018 by TheShitWizard Leave a Comment

Having devoured the rest of the Kate Daniels series earlier this year, I pre-ordered this and read it as soon as it came out (although stupid work has got in the stupid way of reviewing ever since). Magic Triumphs made for a great finale to a fantastic series – I’ll definitely miss having more Kate to look forward to. So…War has been looming for post-shift Atlanta ever since Kate laid claim to the land, making her a direct obstacle to her father’s quest for domination. […]

Why me? Ugh

This review is not for people who have not read the book.

Verdict: It’s fine, but I wanted better.

So Very, Very Shiny! Also, Triple!

August 28, 2018 by Jen K 12 Comments

Bingo Square: So Shiny One good thing about being on the West Coast for work: my Kate Daniels pre-order was delivered to my Kindle account at 12 AM EST, which was 9 pm PST.  I was still up at that point, and immediately dropped the other book I was reading (it’s alright, it was for the TBT square so it’s not like I don’t know how it’s going to end) and dived into Magic Triumphs! So first off, Conlan, Curran and Kate’s son, is adorable!  […]
