Not so fast…

Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham

February 9, 2019 by octothorp Leave a Comment

There’s a reason this is subtitled “From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls;” I think it’s a compliment and would be taken as such by Graham, but this reads A LOT like it was written by Lorelai Gilmore in part because I suspect the actress and her most famous character have much in common. Reading about Graham’s experiences as a young actress, her personal life, and her roles is thoroughly enjoyable, and she has an accessable, conversational writing style that lets her wit shine through.  This […]

Copper Boom!

December 1, 2017 by linusmyhero Leave a Comment

I’m not generally a fan of celebrity books, but as an avid fan of “Gilmore Girls,” I knew I would eventually read Lauren Graham’s memoir. I read her first book, Someday Someday Maybe, and really enjoyed it, so I had pretty high hopes for this. Overall I liked the book, especially the early parts of the book. The chapters about her childhood were really interesting, and I liked hearing about her first forays into the entertainment industry. Plus the Gilmore Girls stories were fun. Once […]

Not a Gilmore Girls Fan, But I Love Lauren Graham

November 1, 2017 by Halbs Leave a Comment

While my wife and many (most?) of my friends love The Gilmore Girls and/or Parenthood, I’m not a fan of either show. However, I am a huge fan of Lauren Graham. She’s charming, funny, and a heck of a writer. Her novel, Someday, Someday Maybe, is one of my favorites of the last few years, and I highly recommend the audiobook.  Even though Talking as Fast as I Can is written primarily for fans of Graham’s show, I enjoyed the audiobook just to hear Lauren Graham talk […]

Talking as Fast as I Can

April 24, 2017 by Ealbrecht Leave a Comment

This was a very quick and easy book for me to read. I liked how I felt like Lauren was talking to me and how her personality came through in the writing. I enjoyed hearing about how she started out in acting and some of the different auditions that she had for parts early on and the things that she learned from these.  One of the things that she learned was that she needs to be comfortable with the part, and it’s ok to turn […]

Good for Gilmore Girls Fans

March 6, 2017 by ASKReviews 7 Comments

Best for: Fans of Lauren Graham, fans of Gilmore Girls. If you’re just a fan of her work on Parenthood, there’s only one chapter in here for you. In a nutshell: A loosely chronological collection of essays by Lauren Graham, discussing how she got into acting, her time on Gilmore Girls, and her time filming the recent series of films for Netflix. Line that sticks with me: “What was it I’d encountered that day, and those other times? Why would anyone assume I’d need help […]

Coffee-Coffee-Coffee

January 11, 2017 by faintingviolet 2 Comments

We already have a couple of reviews of Lauren Graham’s newest book Talking as Fast as I Can and from the people I’m also friends with on Goodreads I’m sure there will be more. I am going to weigh in now with my review, and it’s this: the book is only good, in parts only okay, with moments of great. Three stars. Wait, you want more? Okay, fine. But, I don’t like coming in with the first meh review on this one. Graham got her […]
