Truth in Dreams?

Cursed Princess Club v.3 by LambCat

July 6, 2024 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

Bingo 1: Dreams Starting in the center because 1) it fits my most recent read, and 2) it’s not bad bingo strategy. Dreams and prophecies are common in fairy tales, and The Cursed Princess Club (v.3), being the fairy-tale riff that it is, is no exception. The main plot this time deals with Gwen getting her portrait painted by Lord Leopold. Gwen is the third princess but she’s different as the third child always is, but in her case her difference is that she’s not […]

Cursed and not princesses learning to slay for themselves

The Cursed Princess Club volume 2 by Lamb Cat

January 20, 2024 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

Cursed Princess Club 2 is a good continuation of the series. I was wanting something cozy and wholesome and this mostly is just that. The MLP:FiM emphasis on learning both self-acceptance and how to develop social relationships with ones peers is definitely still a major force, but the fairy tale as well as general gender commentary is also a nice addition. The bit with the Princels seems a little forced in terms of story but it still mostly works as a quick observation on mindset […]

I third this fairy tale self aware fun

Cursed Princess Club v.1 by LambCat

February 5, 2023 by CoffeeShopReader Leave a Comment

I saw Cursed Princess Club v.1 on a shelf and thought it looked interesting but left it there; then I was reminded of this title by a fellow Cannonballer, and decided that maybe I wanted to pick it up. Turns out I didn’t remember which store I’d seen it in, so I ordered it, then saw it on the shelf again two days before I got it. By this point, there was a second review. I agree with both of them. The art style is […]

Subverting fairy tale tropes… and llamas!

Cursed Princess Club vol 1 by LambCat

January 25, 2023 by llamareadsbooks 2 Comments

I’ve become a huge fan of webtoons/tapas/etc lately. So when I saw the amusing cover art, I couldn’t resist picking this up and I’m so glad I did. This is a silly and sweet graphic novel that gleefully subverts the usual fairy tale tropes. Gwen is the youngest daughter of the King of the Pastel Kingdom. Rather than a room full of cute forest animals or an enchanted garden like her older sisters, Gwen attracts a possum who keeps biting her head. She’s kind and […]

I need merchandise to go with my books!

Cursed Princess Club Volume One by Lambcat

Cursed Princess Club Volume Two by Lambcat

September 30, 2022 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Cursed Princess Club Volume One created by Lambcat is a WebToons special. In January 2023 volumes one and two (the summer of 2023) will be (hopefully) published in a physical format (as long as there are no broken-down trucks, snowstorms, printing issues, or acts of the Great Spaghetti Monster). When the King of the Pastel Kingdom wakes his children in the morning, one is sleeping in the flowers that grows wherever she is, one has birds and critters brushing her hair, one is delighting and sparkling […]
