Thankfully KJ Charles has obtained the rights to her books that had been published by Samhain, which closed down earlier this year. After reading The Magpie Lord and loving it, I had been anxious to read the rest of the series – now she’s self publishing and I quickly purchased books two and three! After Lucien, Lord Crane, and Stephen Day, paranormal justiciar, met and fell into a passionate lusty affair in the country, they have returned to London. If you haven’t read the first book, […]
Book Two, New POV
This is book two in the Society of Gentlemen series. The series changes POV with each book and covers basically the same events from another angle. I loved that and really was angry that I had both books on my kindle because I would have liked to have them both out in front of me so I could flip through and compare the events a little easier. This story follows another member of the super secret society of gentlemen that prefer gentlemen, this time it […]
A society of gentlemen (that like gentlemen)
So I am officially at the point where I will read anything by KJ Charles. This is the first book in the Society of Gentlemen series that follows a group of gay men in Regency England. They use their power and money to protect each other and create a safe little world where they can live and love the way they want, but it makes for close quarters and limited dating options. This first book follows Harry Vane as he is admitted into the little […]
A Warlock That Needs to go Straight (but isn’t)
This book is part of the Magpie Lord universe. It is the least connected of the series and really could be read on its own. It features two fun cameos and the justiciary including Stephen Day, but sadly no Lord Crane. Crispin is a warlock by accident, having been trained in blood magic by a man that wanted to wear his skin. He is struggling with using magic in the approved ways and feels like a failure. The only joy in his life comes from […]
“If you stop running, you fall.”
So again this is from the publisher that went under so if you want to buy this book on Amazon hurry there are only a few left (she may independent publish these once she has the rights back from the publisher). I loved this book so much. It is a Magpie Lord linked story but it is pretty standalone (you will enjoy the cameos and understand the story a bit more if you have read the Magpie trilogy ((which is excellent so you should do […]
Rodents of Unusual Size
This is the second book in the Charm of Magpies series and a tiny bit of a let down. The plot is just as tightly wound and well paced. The characters are still funny and sexy. I think my discontent comes from the lack of POV switch, we do not get anything from Stephen Day’s point of view. I am not sure why the author made that choice because it is actually Stephen that has the most at stake in this one and I would […]
