The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen

Don’t cross a Doomsday (or his gentleman friend)

The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen by KJ Charles

December 30, 2023 by teresaelectro Leave a Comment

The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen by KJ Charles was recommended by several friends! I’m terrible at reading new releases because my TBR is like 4,000+ books long. After attending Lawless Book Club, this was moved to the top of the queue. The FOMO got me to finish reading it about a week later. I’m always down for a gay romance and hadn’t read a queer M/M one yet. Set in the Regency era, Joss Doomsday and Sir Gareth meet up at a pub for […]

Two KJ Charles books I loved

Subtle Blood by KJ Charles

The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting by KJ Charles

December 30, 2021 by Emmalita 1 Comment

When KJ Charles envisioned the Will Darling Adventures, she thought she was going to release them bing-bang-boom in quick succession, but then the pandemic happened, and Will and Kim stopped cooperating. While Will and Kim refused to get to their happily ever after, Robin Loxleigh and Sir John Hartlebury insisted on theirs. I loved The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting so much. I devoured the historical romances of the 1990s and 2000. In those books, Robin Loxleigh and his sister Marianne would have been the […]

Thank God they were British. He took a deep breath. “Cup of tea?”

Slippery Creatures by KJ Charles

The Sugared Game by KJ Charles

November 3, 2020 by Emmalita 4 Comments

When KJ Charles initially announced the three book Will Darling Adventures series, it looked like it would all be released in 2020 and so I thought I would read all three and then review them together. However, 2020 is awful and apparently it’s hard to write when the world is on fire and your government is trying to kill you (KJ Charles is British). I have given in and decided to review the first two books without waiting for the third. Will Darling has returned […]

Belts and Braces, Beloved

Guilded Cage by KJ Charles

November 13, 2019 by Emmalita 2 Comments

Any Old Diamonds, the first book in the Lilywhite Boys series was one of my favorite reads this year. KJ Charles’ follow up book, Gilded Cage, has been one of my most anticipated. I will try not to spoil Any Old Diamonds too much, because I think you ought to read it, and you must definitely read it in order to appreciate Gilded Cage. Not all is right with the Lilywhite Boys after the Ilvar affair.  Templeton Lane is feeling resentful about what happened during the heist, […]

Really, a life of crime is not the primrose path it’s cracked up to be.

Any Old Diamonds by KJ Charles

June 10, 2019 by Emmalita 9 Comments

I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn’t expecting what I got from this book, and now I can’t believe I haven’t been reading KJ Charles for years. Any Old Diamonds is a fantastic read, part romance, part revenge plot, part heist. This is a tough book to talk about because it’s almost like a puzzle box. You can almost read it forwards and backwards. That makes it hard to avoid spoilers. Alexander Pyne-ffoulkes is the younger son of the Duke of Ilvar. The […]
