What if Persephone was a jaded socialite and Hades was a broody cinnamon roll?

Neon Gods by Katee Robert

August 8, 2021 by Malin 1 Comment

CBR13 Bingo: Mythic (while this is pretty much a straight-up contemporary romance/erotica, the mythological influences are very much there throughout the book) This book was granted to me as an ARC through NetGalley in return for an honest review. It’s available now. Persephone Dimitriou is a society darling, living in the lap of luxury in a stylish highrise in the city of Olympus. Her mother is Demeter, head of one of the thirteen ruling houses and while she seems to care for her four daughters, […]

Cinnamon Roll by Anna Zabo

April 5, 2021 by Emmalita 5 Comments

I am on a streak of extraordinarily good books. Anna Zabo is a phenomenally good writer. I know kinky queer romance isn’t everyone’s bag, but Zabo is such a good writer I want everybody to read them. They write so beautifully I have been unable to review their novella, Weave the Dark, Weave the Light because it is beyond my ability to describe. I can only say the language cuts you like a knife and then you say thank you. Maxime and Tom have circled […]

The 120 Days of Sodom, or The School of Libertinage by Marquise de Sade

December 30, 2019 by narfna Leave a Comment

So, I wrote this upon finishing this book: “Ummmm. Give me a while to pull some thoughts together.” That was mid-October. I don’t think I’ve managed to pull those thoughts together. I don’t think I ever will. I mean, I read some reviews going in to this book, but even the ones that were explicit about the contents didn’t prepare me. I picked this book up because of the Read Harder Challenge. One of the challenges was to read a book that was written in […]

Let’s talk about representation

November 7, 2018 by Professor FluffyKitten Leave a Comment

This is the second book I’ve read this month that presented a healthy consented BDSM relationship between two man, it is also the first romance book I think I ever read that one of the main characters (and the love interest) is aro (aromantic). Ray Van Zeller is the singer of an up-and-coming rock band called Twisted Wishes, after the band drummer quit due to alcoholism (and a big public fight with Ray), the band is desperately looking for a new drummer. Enter Zavier Demos […]

Two Great Tastes That Taste Great Together…

September 12, 2016 by Polyesque 2 Comments

Warning: This book and review deal with power dynamics being carried out in real life adults that some might not be comfortable with, and may also contain some triggering words that have a very different meaning in the kink scene. Please note that everyone involved has agreed to be so; this book is about consensual power dynamics and conscious relationship style choices, not coercion. As the author states in the synopsis on the back of the book: “Power Circuits is an alliance between two alternative […]
