I would like to join the Tea Dragon Society

The Tea Dragon Society by Kay O'Neill

December 27, 2021 by teresaelectro 2 Comments

Dome’Loki introduced me to Kay O’Neill’s The Tea Dragon Society through her Cannonball Read review. The adorable cover won me over immediately. I was so taken with it that I impulsively supported the Chamomile plush Kickstarter campaign without ever reading the books. I couldn’t decide which dragon I wanted, so I simply ordered all of them with the first book. After several months, they finally arrived and made my day! This children’s book is the first in a series. It introduces us to Greta who […]

Two cats curled up, sleeping on a blanket with a book, "The Tea Dragon Tapestry" by K. O'Neill between them

“A tender, lovingly crafted book about growth, longing, grief, and renewal that I want to read over and over again” (quote from Carey Pietsch)

The Tea Dragon Tapestry by K. O'Neill

November 15, 2021 by Dome'Loki 2 Comments

Never has a blurb on a cover so encapsulated my feelings about a book but Carey Pietsch, artist for The Adventure Zone books, has summed up The Tea Dragon Tapestry so succinctly that everything you need to know about it is right there.  If you’ve read the previous two Tea Dragon books you must read this lovely conclusion to the trilogy.  If you’ve never heard about tea dragons and the quote intrigues you, here are my reviews for the first two books, The Tea Dragon Society and The […]

Do drop in and find this book

Dewdrop by Katie O’Neill

September 2, 2020 by BlackRaven 2 Comments

I am on the fence about Katie O’Neill. I have not disliked anything I have read, but I am also not “OMG MY FAVORITE EVER” author. There is a certain charm that O’Neill has that comes across in what I have read. Even when there is “scary adventure” it is still comforting. She seems like she might be your favorite aunt. Or that fun neighbor that becomes like an aunt/grandmother to you. And that charm is continued in their picture book, Dewdrop. This is just […]

I’ll have a cup of tea, a dragon and a great story please and thank you

The Tea Dragon Society Vo1 by Katie O’Neill

August 11, 2020 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

(image 100% stolen from internet) The Tea Dragon Society Vo1 is by the author of the Aquacorn book I recently read and reviewed. And this book is filled with contradictions for me. First, I do not think I would have gone onto the Aquacorn book had I read about the Tea Dragons first. There is a lot to love, but it is not as strong as her later book. However, at the same time it is better. Second, I rate this a four, but it […]

Aquicorn Cove by Katie O'Neill

August 2, 2020 by The Chancellor Leave a Comment

Aquicorn Cove by Katie O’Neill My rating: 3 of 5 stars This is a climate change narrative told through the story of Lana and her aunt, Mae. Lana used to live in the village by the cove with her mom, Mae’s sister, and dad but after tragic events they’ve moved to the city. They return to the village to help Mae repair things after the town has been damaged in a storm. The village realizes that storms are coming more and more frequently and are […]

Dragons and Tea and Illustrations! Oh, My!

The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O'Neill

August 2, 2020 by The Chancellor Leave a Comment

The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neill My rating: 3 of 5 stars I first heard about the tea dragon society through the card game. Playing the game, I found in the directions that there was a graphic novel upon which the game was based. The world of tea dragons is a fantastical realm in which tea dragons of various species (rooibos, ginseng, jasmine, and chamomile) grow magical leaves on their horns. Drinking the tea gives the tea dragon’s owner a chance to relive the […]
