I am the mother of a monkey and a daughter

Things You Save In a Fire by Katherine Center

July 31, 2019 by Manimama 2 Comments

Things You Save In a Fire is a pretty quick read that is probably a good beach or vacation book. My 13-year-old daughter agreed to read this book with me for the ‘Two Heads’ bingo square. The title of the post is a sentence she repeatedly tried to insert in to my own answers. Mom: I thought this was a good book. It was a story about Cassie, a firefighter in Texas who moves to Massachusetts when her life gets turned up-side down. It follows […]

Love Story Between Two Sisters

How to Walk Away by Katherine Center

Also I am not a fan of male characters ignoring it when a female character tells you what their name is and they refuse to use it. I swear I have seen this happen in other romance books and I want everyone to just stop putting that in there. The love story to me […]

Set Fire….to the Rain

Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center

January 24, 2019 by Classic Leave a Comment

Please note that this book will be released on August 13, 2019. And note that I received this via NetGalley. This did not affect my rating or review. Well this was really good. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because forgiveness is okay, but I loathed what one of the characters did and it was like they were given a pass on it because they had other issues going on. FYI, I am all about the vengeance. “Things You Save in […]

Choosing Change

August 7, 2018 by Tragic Sandwich Leave a Comment

Every aspect of Lanie Coates’s life has changed, and she’s not sure it’s for the better. She’s the mother of three very young children, her husband is in grad school, and they’ve moved halfway across the country. An encounter in a local park motivates Lanie to change her life and take time for herself, with far-reaching and unexpected consequences. I “found” Center through a podcast, and thought that her focus on finding joy was something I could use in my reading. I liked Lanie, and […]
