What if Persephone was a jaded socialite and Hades was a broody cinnamon roll?

Neon Gods by Katee Robert

August 8, 2021 by Malin 1 Comment

CBR13 Bingo: Mythic (while this is pretty much a straight-up contemporary romance/erotica, the mythological influences are very much there throughout the book) This book was granted to me as an ARC through NetGalley in return for an honest review. It’s available now. Persephone Dimitriou is a society darling, living in the lap of luxury in a stylish highrise in the city of Olympus. Her mother is Demeter, head of one of the thirteen ruling houses and while she seems to care for her four daughters, […]

Turns out I need *some* plot (not very much though)

The Sea Witch by Katee Robert

June 21, 2021 by wicherwill 2 Comments

Katee Robert is clearly a master of writing sexy sex times, but reading this novel after reading Neon Gods makes me realize that it’s not (always) enough to have PWP–you also need to have characters and stakes that you can get behind. While I get the outlines of the loose retelling of The Little Mermaid featuring Ursa (Ursula), Alaric (Eric), and Zurielle (Ariel) in a FFM D/s/s, I’m not quite sure that this fully fits into the Thirteen Gods of Olympus universe that Neon Gods takes place in, even […]

Clearly I just need…different Greek myth retellings

Neon Gods by Katee Robert

June 8, 2021 by wicherwill 1 Comment

Thanks to Emmalita for the rec (https://everyday-offershub.com/2021/03/ne%E2%80%A6%29 What was I saying about not reading Greek myth retellings? Clearly I just need to make sure that I’m reading the right ones. This one is a right one. This one is…HOT. Look, I like read a lot of smutty smut smut PWP and now, purged of some of my inner judgement around what “counts” and “doesn’t count” as “reading,” I’m pretty happy to talk about it. And let me tell you, this is a seriously sexy book […]

I suppose expecting an answer about your kidnapper’s prior experience is just silly

Neon Gods by Katee Robert

March 10, 2021 by Emmalita 5 Comments

Katee Robert writes absolutely delightful candy. Her books are scorching hot and her sexual politics are good. She respectfully writes messy, complicated characters with scars (emotional and physical), but keeps it light enough not to be retraumatizing. I don’t become immersed in her worlds, but I do go back to them for escape and comfort. I was introduced to her Wicked Villains stories, which recasts the villains of Disney movies as the actual good guys. They live in a divided city with Hades sex club […]

Cannonball After Dark, Daddy Edition

Daddy Crush by Adriana Anders

Your Dad Will Do by Katee Robert

November 30, 2020 by Emmalita 4 Comments

Did I think there would come a time when I was reviewing two Daddy romances? No, I sure did not. But here we are, and I have to say right up top that these are both good books and I enjoyed reading them. Both books came so highly recommended and were too affordable to resist. In Adriana Anders’ Daddy Crush, a young woman is pining for her older neighbor. Jerusha grew up in the Shenandoah to a very conservative religious family. She never fit in, but […]

Technically, It’s “Right Bed, Wrong Guy”, But It Doesn’t Work as Well

August 31, 2015 by Mrs. Julien 4 Comments

Elle has a desperate crush on her art gallery owner boss. In a move worthy of a fourteen year old at a slumber party, she decides it is a good idea to get undressed up and climb in bed with him. She does, he’s responsive, and everything instantly goes predictably awry when Elle figures out that Gabe was not her intended target. Mortified, she hies herself hence and hopes that her boss won’t find out. Given that her boss is her inadvertent bedmate’s brother this […]
