Liked it enough to not watch the show

The Passage by Justin Cronin

March 11, 2019 by lowercasesee Leave a Comment

This is really just in-depth, easy to read, nice and long science fiction. Emphasis on long – we’re talking like 900 pages, and it doesn’t really suit short burst reading. But if your flight is delayed four hours and the Delhi airport is the worst, you can knock out a good long chunk of it and feel pretty good about yourself. Also apparently the book has been made into a TV show but all I know about it is that the kindle version has two […]

Holy freaking crap this was a long book.

September 7, 2018 by kfishgirl 3 Comments

cbr10bingo… Home something home So as my title suggests, this book was INSANELY long.  And I’ve read IT by Stephen King!!!  Ok I just checked, It was twice as long as this book.  Why did it feel like the other way around???  I think Mr. Cronin went to the Stephen King school of TELL ME EVERY FREAKING DETAIL ABOUT EVERY FREAKING THING, and then took it fifty five steps further.  Even though it doesn’t sound like it, I did like the book.  I just absolutely […]

The Twelve by Justin Cronin

The title leads you to believe it’s about the virals, but it’s really about the humans

July 23, 2018 by kfishgirl 2 Comments

Ok so this is the second book of the Passage trilogy.  I thought I just made the name of the trilogy up, but then I looked at the title on Amazon (which I copied and pasted into here), and it’s totally called that.  Yay me!  Like I say in my review title above, the book is more about the people dealing with the twelve “master virals” (I definitely made that title up).  The goal of most of the main characters in this book is to […]

Way more involved than I originally anticipated, but still good!

June 27, 2018 by kfishgirl 1 Comment

I’m not entirely sure where to start this review.  I guess I’ll start at the beginning, and how I got into reading this book.  I’m one of those people who sees that a new movie / TV show is based on a book and wants to immediately read the book.  It’s happened so far with: A Handmaid’s Tale, A Wrinkle in Time, The Darkest Minds, and this book.  I’m sure there were others too!  I always want to read the source material before I see […]

Two books to wrap up my CBR9

December 26, 2017 by ingres77 Leave a Comment

So my CBR9 didn’t go quite as planned. I took on a lot of extra work for my job, which cut down on my reading, and was sick for a pretty large chunk of the year, so I’m not going to really come close to the double cannonball I had planned. Still, what amounts to basically a one-and-a-half cannonball is nothing to sneeze at. The Passage by Justin Cronin (4 stars) I’m having trouble wrapping my head around the apparent fact that “only” 10 reviews […]

The Passage by Justin Cronin

Okay, But I Have Questions

June 20, 2017 by Gracey the Giant 1 Comment

So, this series apparently got a lot of hype when the first book, The Passage, first came out.  I was, presumably, living under a rock at the time, and so hadn’t heard of it.  In fact, I didn’t really hear about the series until the final book came out, at which point I decided to read them all. And, well, the first half of the first book was great, the second half was good. The second book was okay, verging on bad and the third book was […]
